Can you clarify what you would like? I will do my best to put a video out for you, doing what you ask to the best of my ability. My play style differs significantly from that of traditional players as I don't utilize many riffs or lines from work already out there. I do this because my mind wanders, and I struggle to focus on tasks. I extrapolate my emotive interplay of thoughts and feelings into what I can create in the moment. Every piece is just that, a Mandala of sorts. Here, one moment, and gone the next.

Which one is better to play Beatles songs on? Like love me do etc
@wulfboy013 ай бұрын
I would say a hohner diatonic 1896-just a regular old fashioned diatonic harmonica. The Beatle's harmonica is just a collector's with their logo and such.

Though for a song like Love me do, John played the chromatic harmonica. So it's good to be able to play both.

Hi, I have all three of these, agree with you on most of your points and this little point may or may not be relevant. But when you say the reed plates are the same between the Marine Band original and deluxe I’m of the opinion that’s not true, from my understanding the Marine band deluxe shares the same reedplates as the Hohner Marine band crossover, another great harp and certainly more different between the marine band standard and the crossover than just the bamboo comb. Anyway another useless piece of information for us. 😂

Seydel's are expensive, but they LAST. Older Marine Bands do swell though I have noticed less of that over the past 15 or so years. I've not yet tried a Deluxe. I'm still 95-99% 1896s. I like Golden Melody's for some things & I only have 2 1847 Seydel Classics. Love 'em. Overblow outta the box. No swell at all & good tone plus no nails. Hohners are still my heart. HATE their Blues Harp & I HAVE had some bad luck with some 1896 out of the box being flat sticky etc. Supposedly the Deluxe fixes that AND the screw vs nail thing, but you probably ALREADY got a little file anyway so that's no biggie & by the time you pull the nails out 4-5 times it's spent anyway. That's why Seydel worth the $...Last I saw Deluxe was cheaper than 1847 with many similar features. $'s been funny for about 3 years. That's NO coincidence. Hoping to buy a few after November. I'd really like to go lower maintenance whether that turns out to be 1847 OR Deluxe remains to be seen.

I’ve never tried a low key harp yet but I’m getting the itch to try one. Is low C the one to go with? Or maybe low F or D maybe? I’m thinking about getting a cheap one like an Easttop or Amazing 20 just to have one.

Hi Ralph! I just ordered a Manji in the key of A. I need an A for some songs I’m trying to learn. Do you have others beside the low C? I thought about it hard for a while and decided on the Manji. Was just curious of your overall opinion on them. Hope you’re doing good bud!

Same reedplates and reeds. Identical. Setup might be a tad better out of the box on the Noble. Aluminium comb and cover plates are what makes it sound different.

I think for a new player, I would recommend a C harmonica as most of the tutorials online are already using a C harmonica, and it's a happy medium between all the keys. It's easier to bend than an A or a G harmonica but doesn't bend as easy as a D or an F, which tend to over Bend, causing sour notes.

Thanks. I've been playing for about ten months and working on bends for like 8 of them. I got the hole one bend on my first try, meanwhile the hole 4 bend has been taking me like 7 months lol and I still struggle a lot with it. You're right that certain harps definitely are easier, although I find it best not to bounce around too much from harps while learning bending because, as you mentioned, every harp is slightly different, so if you keep bouncing between various harps, you end up having to alter your tongue position/embouchure slightly and the task becomes like hitting a moving target, where as sticking with one harp is like trying to hit a stable target. So I think mastering it on one harp is best first. What's helped me with bending: make sure you are relaxed. Have a steady breathe of air from the diaphragm and stay relaxed. you don't need to increase the volume -- just need to change the mouth and tongue shape while controlling the air with the diaphragm.

It just never seemed to get over that poor quality tone that I heard coming from it, not even after the guitar sat on the tonerite over a week. You may have seen or I may have mentioned in the comment above that I purchased a new one to replace the d41 this past week. This guitar sounds phenomenal. Right out of the box she sounds wonderful. And after a string change and adding Liquid Metal Bridge fins I think the tone is even better then when I originally picked her up.
@TreeShark9 ай бұрын
I’m about 85% sure a tonrite is a repackaged aquarium air pump. The on and off switch is the same, the hum is unmistakable if you own a small aquarium. I think he repackaged aquarium air pumps/ created a housing/ added either rubber or something soft underneath and also to hold into place on strings. I’d make a $500 I’m close to accurate

Good commentary, Ralph. I own a set of Marine band 1896, but find I can’t play them for very long because the exposed reed plates rip up my lips. I also own a Seydel 1847 silver and find that it is a little harder to play Than the Marine band, it tends to take a little more air pressure. I mostly play the Honer Honer rocket amp and regular rocket.
