There is no way that a partner that is beaten into a corner and stands up and defends themselves is engaging in "mutual abuse." That is self-defense. By the premise he put forth anyone that fights off a rapist is engaging in "mutual abuse." A dog beaten long enough by its owner will eventually bite the hand that feeds them. By this gentleman's own logic, the bad energy and poor leadership is still coming from the man. The influence of abuse becomes a plague onto the entire house, fed by the man's entitlement mentality. Anyone that comes across this video, I suggest Bancroft's Why Does He Do That? Inside the Mind of Angry and Controlling Men," he even cover some of this man's argument, that the receiver try to "poke the bear" so to speak, in order the storm over with to return to the calm, only for the cycle to restart. The entire argument is a clear lack of education of the dynamics of domestic violence, for either sex, of any age. I have been looking for the source of the "80% of all DV is mutual abuse," I have not found a direct source, and from what I have found they survey men that had already been convicted of DV or in batterer intervention groups, so obviously that should be greatly questioned, as one said, "She told me, "No," so I put her in the hospital," and that's called mutual abuse these days.

I am so glad to hear that I am not crazy (men and woman are both equaly violent or similar). Although I am not so sure we can rely completely on reported abuse in regards to women being injured at a higher rate, as it is clear, men are injured and more often than not, just dont seek help. Those injuries at times are severe. I am curious when we will finallly admit alcohol is one of the only real causes of domestic violence, and is much more than a learned behavior? Its not hard to prove really. Fetal alcohol syndrom or fetal spectrum disorder should remove any idea that acohol is not a cause. Let me guess, one would argue it was the mothers choice to drink that is the cause, not the alcohol. Although its not moms action of drinking but the effects of the alcohol that is damaging the babies brain. Anyway, would love to have anyone that is interested to head over to Domestic Violence the Forbidden Truth, alcohol and violence and consider reading my Book. Thank you for taking the time to do the research. But I hate to say it. Until we change the social programs view on alcohol, I do not feel we will see any serious improvements. But, turning away from the it's all mens fault is an excellent start. Unfortunately, its been ten years since this video has been released and nothing has really change. Have a happy holiday!

You and your practice are so disturbed and maligned with helping people. You force people to be the way you want them be, and for your convenience due to your lack of competency. I'm now an RN MBA, and off disability, if only I had the time to go after a lawsuit, but then again God will handle your soul. You are a classic narcissist and your buddy KW. Thank you for making me stronger than ever before.

This guy likely has ego/pride issues, is weak, and can't handle that men ARE responsible. Read and listen to Lundy Bancroft. He's the MOST knowledgeable person in domestic violence out there.

THANK YOU. I'VE BEEN Writing about our Struggles with this (my fiancé's and my struggles) in a climate where it's assumed to be a myth and no appropriate paradigm or treatment is available. Being told that she is only engaging in reactive abuse makes one party, usually the woman, feel self righteous in a way that is not helpful. Being told that, usually he, is the "primary abuser" makes that member of the couple, usually the man, feels that his character is being assassinated and that his partner and her support system (therapist, friends) are taking no accountability for the times she hit him or in other ways physically hurt or threatened him. We never had any serious injuries but we used to get into brief physical skirmishes that were in fact scary. We had a year with no such problems. Then in the last 6 months we've had a couple of relapses. But we're both working diligently in therapy, on medication, doing individual and group therapy, and reading appropriate books--such as the wonderful book The High Conflict Couple. Again *thank you.* This video seems woefully underwatched. I liked it and subscribed to your channel immediately. .
