@@greenfire919 they typically go around 35 mph track speed on that section of the Port Jervis Line. Tracks are right next to Route 17 which has a 55mph speed limit on most of it (except through towns of course) so H70 on that stretch is relatively easy to keep up with.

what is this type of train classified as? model, scale model; is there a naming for these types of ride in trains? more like them? I could see this being cool to visit along my travels.
@TheWanderingRailfansАй бұрын
Unfortunately I’m not sure. I meant to talk to someone there about those very questions but never got to them. Definitely recommended checking it out though, it’s a really cool little railroad and I believe they’re open at Christmas time too
@legiontheatregroupАй бұрын
It would be classified as an amusement ride - you can Google “amusement park trains” to see other styles. These designs in this video anre interesting and a bit unusual, I have not seen them before (and I am familiar with most mass produced amusement ride trains of this size). They are not based on any particular full size prototype, although they slightly resemble an obscure 1870s geared steam engine used for logging that was known as a Dunkirk. For miniature trains approaching this size that ARE more scale models of actual prototypes search for Grand Scale Railways. They are generally more used by private hobbyists than are the type of miniature trains in this video - which are amusement rides.

That's just wrong, using fake steam locomotives.
@DieCastomsАй бұрын
fake steam engines make railfans sad, but the children have absolutely no idea what they are looking at. I find it amusing that someone would manufacture that engine and NOT make it look like a Shay, Heisler, or Climax. It is so close, already . . . some dummy cylinders would make it even closer . . . and a smoke generator.
@AnimalsVehiclesAndMoreАй бұрын
I would love if they built full-sized diesel locomotives that look exactly like steam locomotives. It would invoke a lot of nostalgia in people, and return the railroads to their former glory.
