The music and vocal are one of the best i heard. But after a year i heard that song in the radio, only now i saw the lyrics on youtube... And i wonder... Where is the conflict?!? Who cares that she has a rare love if it's not in danger?!... If there is no risk to Almaz in the song then what do i care for this 2 love birds?! This sad balad music has no connection to the words at all!

"Almaz" was written about a couple of Eritrean refugees who were neighbors of Crawford's. The man asked Crawford to write a song about his wife, who was named Almaz (which means "diamond" in Amharic, Arabic, and a number of other languages). In the song, the singer reflects on their rare form of love. In Crawford's own words, "I witnessed this perfect love affair between them, although she was considerably younger than him. This beautiful couple with their baby. As refugees, they were looking for a world where love survives".

are you listening to the lyrics --its not heartbreaking at all its a song about how lucky and wonderful life is for Almaz there is not one word of regret or hurt in the lyrics ---try listening to a song before making stupid comments

People feel that a song is heartbreaking in many different reasons cuz they listen to a song in all different status of feeling and with all different memories and special ones that the song reminds them of. Music is always something that can be so beautiful and so sad at the same time. It's not taken as its lytics are written just like we don't expect poems to be taken as such. This is is one of the most stupid comments I've ever seen.
