I’m going to have to get Bachmann to bring out the trains of the Volk’s Electric Railway. The reason I want to replicate this railway is because, when I go to Brighton, I use it daily and take pictures and videos of the line and the trains. It’s a narrow gauge line, which was built in the Victorian era.

My own layout is in the process of changing from a Dad’s Army layout to a replication of the Volk’s Electric Railway in Brighton. It’s a short line that runs along the seafront between Aquarium and Black Rock.

Agreed, the pricing is insane and that decoder is honestly pretty decent when compared to higher end ZIMO and ESU sound decoders. Great video.
@Themodelrailer9 күн бұрын
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video don’t get me wrong the decoder makes the whole thing worth the price as i know the loco on its own would be priced at more and tbh with this comment i may do a video on the decoder alone for functionality as i have a loco with a esu sound decoder and while it does sound good there are only half the functions and no handy auto operate or the easiness in changing certain cvs! Made up you enjoyed the video and Thanks for watching😊

Grate review, I absolutely agree, I git the exact same one for a very good price too. And at last a review that isn't slating Hornby, credit were credits due, although some will say, no lights is disappointing, but as another comment points out it is fairly easy to install them, and the decoder will allow cab lights as well. Traction tyres are giving it that grip ...Drew

Thank you for the kind words i always try to look for the positive in every model i look at thats why i run them first so you can see how they are at their best i know faults happen from new but just want to give them the best chance im not a slate what i can channel i trying to hopefully bring out the best part of the hobby i will say if i don’t thing something is good or not the best way to do something but just appreciate what i have and if i can make it light hearted fun and less serious too then brilliant. Eg i got a black 5 mentioned the fault but found the fix and its a awesome loco!! and hey may have a go at installing the lights on it in the future again thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!😊

Thank you for the review, but if I wanted the loco without sound, would I get it for £55? It maybe cheap for a loco with sound, but is it cheap without? 😊
@Themodelrailer12 күн бұрын
Ahhhh yes i see what you mean very good point the loco on its own would be more expensive but as a whole package with sound it makes it a cheaper loco. Thank you for the great comment as always and Thanks for watching!😊
@jimkeenan721114 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right. Some retailers are even cheaper than the price you paid. The loco passes the three foot test. Unfortunately no lights but not too difficult to add. Hornby gets slated for prices, but their policy of adding TXS to Railroad models is a brilliant move .

Hi, great informative video, I’m not a fan of Railroad products or the TXS decoder format but I can see many modellers who do will be very happy with those prices, as you stated it’s a bargain if you’re modelling on a budget, Bachmann call on their older tooling and put prices on them that would leave a dent in a Swiss bank account! The thing about this hobby is that there are bargains to be had at every level so if you wait you will get what you need eventually, hope you enjoy your model and thanks for sharing.
@Themodelrailer13 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video also great to hear that although this isnt your cup of tea in a loco your not just hating on it but can see the value for the right people love comments like this and yes some prices now do make you think how its possible they are that much dapol is a good example of how much you can get for your pennies. Again thank you for the supportive comment and Thanks for watching 😊

@@Themodelrailer Hornby are not the club of old I used to love, things have gone downhill in so many ways, there are so many choices out there now so the choices are great, I feel for modellers who don’t have mad money to spend on items in this unique hobby, greedy manufacturers don’t help the hobby with their price structures that are targeting premium modellers bank accounts, mind you the secondhand prices are scandalous on some items, collectors have their limits so the greed doesn’t always pay off when looking for those specific items, there are so many things I’d like to see but designers have their own agendas, we call for items that would sell out but they get ignored, Accurascale are going down the we want the premium modellers route now with their very good but expensive wagons, as modellers we have choices to buy or not to buy, they don’t get it anymore so they keep announcing items that the few want and the many shrug off until something takes their fancy, let’s hope that reality kicks in before they go out of business.
@Themodelrailer13 күн бұрын
@@StormmyStormmy i completely agree with you greed seems to have definitely taken over and feel like manufacturers are pricing us all out always been a fan of hornby and would hate to see them go out of business there are definitely steps they could take to get the top spot and everyones go to as they have some amazing bargain prices at the minute on certain sets and surely making a profit of each one of them still so sell them cheaper than the rest and surely everyone will go to the cheapest i know i do sometimes and always look for a 2nd hand bargain from my local shop this last week got 10 cracking wagons for £6 each that will definitely do me!!
