I really like it! It feels like a mandala. Something to gaze upon with meditation. I have a small selection of beam paints. I’ve used them a little, but I’ve got so many paints, I’ve over looked them, despite their unique pigments.

Hi .I haven't used the water soluble oil pastel . Do they have to be wet with water or do they can be used dry as they come in the box ? Thank you for responding to my question . The duck came out very nicely .
@BlakesStudioАй бұрын
They can be used like traditional pastels. They do not need to be wet down. It does make bleeding them easier.

Beautiful job! Personally, I would have put a bit darker background behind the duck bill to make it pop and stand out better, but that's just me. I love Mungyo oil pastels, regular and water soluble, and frequently mix them in one piece of art, regular last. There are more colors available for the regular type. They play well together. I've also had success in using gelatos on top in my backgrounds, adds a nice touch, especially the iridescent ones from Faber Castell. Good luck, I enjoyed the video.

Thank you so much. I am in a no spend year but I will be adding Gelatos to my wish list.

Wow, those beam paints don't move at all do they? Not even wet into wet. What a fabulous beginners paint. Too bad they are so expensive. It is a Beautiful paint
@BlakesStudio2 ай бұрын
No, they don't move at all. I didn't realize when I purchased them that quite a few of the colors are gouache not watercolor. Not a big deal now...but I feel like they should seperate the two. Beautiful paints none the less....I will be buying replacements of favorite colors.

I've seen so many people making these ephemera books and calling them journals. I've never understood it because theirs are so covered with crap you couldn't write in it if you wanted to. Yours are cool because someone could at least use them. I can see how young girls would love them for weekly diaries. Yours are neat. I finally get it.
@BlakesStudio2 ай бұрын
Appearently there are those that line to just glue in and add photos and stuff and whatnot...I like the idea of more writing space available at the start then they can make of the Journal what they want.

Are you drawing from imagination or are you looking at a reference? Either way, fabulous but I am curious. I'm one that requires reference. Hence why I refuse to call myself an artist. Not that there is a clear definition of what makes an artist. I'm just hard on myself and won't give myself that title until I can draw accurately from imagination. I don't expect from others that which I demand from myself. So this isn't judgment. I'm just curious, that's all.
@BlakesStudio2 ай бұрын
Sometimes I draw from memory or imagination...if it is a subject that I have drawn alot it is second nature. Mostly I use reference and will use several at once to create a painting/drawing. At this point in my creative journey, I start with references and end up not paying attention to them as I get going on the piece. I'm not always looking to copy, although that is a good way to learn, I am usually trying to get a feeling or story across...if that makes sense.
@phillipstroll73852 ай бұрын
I second that. I also prefer to break my brush pens in before actually using them. I have found that I prefer to use piston fill fountain pens with a brush nib over constantly replacing brush pens. Not only do I find the brush nibs more to my liking I can also easily change the inks as desired without the need for umpteen purchases & pens. I also have fountain pens with felt tip nibs. Fine, med, bold. When I want to change from a permanent ink to a flowing one a simple flush with cool water takes care of that real quick. I also prefer this with my fine liners because I write and draw from the top of the pens and brushes. Therefore I require a fine liner that writes on a 45° angle, not a 90° one. I love that you can identify artists by their work. I can spot modern artists a mile away and the masters painting work, but I can NOT tell a Durer sketch from a Parmigiano, a Michaelangelo sketch from a Leonardo, a Reubens sketch from a Klauber or a Rembrandt from a Goya without close inspection. Because they were all such great draftsmen whom captured the mathematically scientific concept of beauty with the dash of a line as if those lines were placed by God itself. I can't wait until AI forces a change in what younger artists call art. I don't mean that in a hateful way. I mean to say what we've called art for the last 60 years has destroyed the creativity and genius of mankind. I saw an art show where a man dropped his pants, squated and literally took a dump on a canvas. These wilfully ignorant elites called it art. Cities wasting millions of tax payer money erecting garbage. Not to say there isn't a time and place for it. I'm sure there is, but it isn't the best of man. (By man I of course mean humanity as a whole) I believe AI will NOT destroy the art world. On the contrary; I believe generation B & mostly C will return to creating the type of art that lead humanity to achieve greatness. Art that speaks to the soul. Art that comes from the soul and speaks to mankind the only way one human can connect with another.
