I remember saying the steak was tough. My husband and kids looked at me like "What?' I kept chewing and they said it was so tender. Another time, I had trouble swallowing a jelly bean. I laughed and said, I guess I shouldn't be eating jelly beans. Once my husband asked why I was drooling with my mouth closed. Also, I noticed my face was different in photographs. I blamed gravity. We just laughed these things off. When my fatigue kept growing, I said, Well, I am getting older, I am overweight and this is normal. When the breathing issues began, I paid attention, but that was all the doctor focused on. After a traumatic event, I could not breathe, I could not hold my head up and the double vision began. Then I was sent to a neurologist who did a blood test which gave me a diagnosis. All of the dots suddenly connected and I realized how long this was brewing. Accepting is key to finding a way to live with this disease.

Hi, my name is Tawny, I was diagnosed with MG in 1984 at the age that of 9. My story is very similar to yours at the age of 15 I had a thymectomy and went into remission, until after the birth of my daughter at 27 years old. The MG was managed with medication Mestinon to be exact up until four years ago when I began to have difficulty swallowing and got into a myasthenia crisis. I went on immune suppressant for three years then tapered off and now I’m currently living a fairly normal life. I only take two 180 mg tablets of Mestinon daily. There are good days and bad days and can’t help but believe that God has a purpose for all of this, and He is being glorified through my journey. Thank you for sharing your story and God bless bless you.

Hello from The Netherlands. I,m a 57 year old woman , was diagnosed in 1984, it took a while before they took me serious but i became so bad that i finally was diagnosed in the hospital. My case was so intense that i ende up with surgery, that was traumatic, nowadays they have lessen invasive methods. The time that i wasn,t able to eat, speak, drink was traumatic, i got an anxiety disorder from that and PTSD. I,m cured for 80% and when i,m tired, very emotional, stressed or sick than i have more symptoms. In my case, i ruïned my life . I stopped medicaton a few months after surgery, a thymectomie has saved my life, but i can,t get rid of the trauma, even had EMDR sessions but i remains. I met the love of my life ( was married for 23 years earlier) year ago, but i feel blocked, i feel embarressed for having MG, although nobory sees anything. It,s a cruel disease. Wish you the best!

I have just found your channel. I have refractory Myasthenia Gravis. The neurologist treating me is fantastic, probably the best in South Africa, she also does thorough tests every time. I have been on most medications, Prednisone, Azathioprine, Mestinon, had Plasmapheresis, IVIG, then Cellcept. Some only worked for a short while, some made me very sick, Cellcept caused me to go into crisis. IVIG works amazingly, but is extremely expensive. I had my first Rituximab infusion two four days ago, we are praying that it will work, as I don't have the energy to deal with medication not working once again. Thank you for your honesty on your channel. Please give us an update if you started with Rituximab, and how things are going for you.

I know this is a old video and in hope you're well now, thank you for doing this. I'm suspecting this, with this video I'm believing I have this. Our stories are similar but I didn't have hospital care regarding these symptoms, I was told I was imagining it & I must be mentally ill. I have other rare illnesses too that they didn't understand. I finished my qualifications from bed with help from my assessor but never made it to uni. I've lived life in bed or odd days with hours I can be in wheelchair or back then crutches.. I'm hoping I can now receive the tests & get the right care.

I just discovered your video. It really touched me emotionally and psychologically. I was reminded of my own journey with pre and post diagnosis of MG. Your video is a great information piece, and made me feel so proud to see your strength and perserverance. I was diagnosed in 1975. I went into remission in 1976 but I still have vestigages of muscle weakness from time to time. You have inspired me to share my journey of 35 years. You are absolutely correct, your faith in God or a higher being, by what ever name you call him/her, is what will make the difference in your life.

How did it go with your thymectomy? I was diagnosed in 2015, but my CT scan and chest xrays never showed a thymoma until last week. I am doing a Pet scan next week to find out more about it. I am just nervous to go through any surgery.

Went amazing one year after my Thymectomy. Healing was a breeze. No huge incisions or anything. But for me my energy levels, emotional levels, and just drive to have the life that I used to have has slowly faded from me. Its hard for me to leave my home. Taking the stairs to come home 3 flights only winds me si badly I must sit before entering my own house or pass out. I sleep and can sleep for 18 plus hours or more if I'm let alone. I am grateful and very thankful to be alive and living but it's so hard lately im not going to lie. I need an IVIG infusion and im too scared to go to my hospital from COVID im in New York. We were the epicenter of this shit storm. 10 hours ago we beat the record of dead in one day today like do I really want to go get an infusion and possible never come home? Or get home and kill my hole family with covid? I dont know. But thank you for asking! Feels good to talk about it. It's a great surgery but in My opinion and circumstances its changed my emotions drastically. So I dont know but sending love and hugs prayers and hope. Chrissi🥰

@@TheGraceornell90 if your worried about pain dont the hospital knows it's a painful procedure. Purely by the location of the thymus gland. But I PROMISE they will not allow you to be in any discomfort. So dont you worry. Just listen to your surgeon. Do exactly what he askes of you so you heal properly and quickly, but most importantly painlessly so be direct like Doc IM DIEIN HERE GIMME A SHOT OF MY PAINMMEDS JESUS lol only had to do that one time lol when I was waking up but I wasn't hurting I was high and sleepy lol just running at the mouth lol. Enjoy ok. Its gonna get much better I promise. 🤩#MGStrong Boo!
