That makes sense I kinda was comparing to more recent comics which is why this review was difficult since the movie was wayyy before my time. I might have had a different opinion on the movie if I had previously also watched the show, but thank you for telling me more about it because I honestly did not know that. It definitely is a difference in time since I'm about half of your age but it is interesting it hear about it from the other perspective. I'm sure when it was released it was a great movie it is just hard to compare it to the movies that have released since.

Yeah, I was really really young, tho when I was used to Adam West as Batman and boom Micheal Keaton comes out in all black with it being dark. I think the genre of superhero movies and television before like Spiderman, Superman, etc. Heroes were lawful good. The medium for gritty anti heroes were live action movies with Arnold, Stallone, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, etc. The adult audiences were literally normies in the late 20th century.

I think Robocop was the first successful movie superhero that made it to the big screen with a movie that held no punches having to edit to resubmit to MPAA for an R rating, Alex Murphy became a Marvel hero in the comics afterwards because the movie was really good. I suppose Toxic Avenger before Robocop had a cult following as a film original superhero. Marvel tried to release Punisher with Dolph Lundren as a blatant R rated film, and it wasn't as successful. Spawn held back too much for PG-13, and CGI was too new for it really work as well. It was like this weird safe edgy mentality where it was easier to make a new copy and paste story as an an excuse for Arnold to kill hundreds of men to make profit, then to make movies based on a comic book that had the same explicit content as the comics.

@@vbrvarietychannel I'm glad things have changed now with that because I could not even to begin to imagine if for example Deadpool was not able to be R rated. Plus a lot of superhero movies need to be more explicit to tell a better and sometimes more accurate story so it can be an enjoyable watch.

@@davidpenn9396 I love watching any kind of movie I obviously am a marvel fan so I can talk about marvel all day but I always like when people suggest their favorites so they can see if my opinions are the same as theirs and where I ranked it amongst the movies I previously reviewed

@@domoisbosso yeah I really like the older Marvel comics in the 1970s when the storylines were great and they were worth buying way way back into those times. now I like the GI Joe American Hero Series which I would watch there cartoons.
