What we need is the amendment to the POCSO Act, not its forceful adoption. convicting innocent Tribal people under this act is against the fundamentals of our constitution. Article 14 provides for the EQUAL PROTECTION OF LAW. tribal early marriages are survival and adaptive mechanisms that evolved through thousands of years, which may be “BARBARIC” to the so-called “ modern society”. Life in the forest community is ENTIRELY different compared to outside. Forcing this act on tribal population only cause state-sponsored human right violation. Empowering tribal women and men through education and giving them the power to choose what is good for them whether it is customary or not is the right way forward. A gradual change is most favourable.
