I always manual focus when shooting video, but the canon lens is definitely pretty fast. With the manual focus sometimes I just get lucky, and other times I have to quickly redo the shot a few times to get it. I didn't mess with the white balance onboard, but used some filters in post with Quick Looks (see last line under Tech Specs)

Thank you! Do you use manual focusing or is the canon lens pretty fast? you focus in and out pretty quickly and evenly for shallow DOF; not much focus searching.. also did you adjust white balance on some of the cuts? Some sequences appear to have have a pleasing warm yellow tint

the photos in the time lapse are higher resolution than the video. so the photos are something like 2592x1728 and the video is 1280x720. so when i imported the stills into the video, they were larger than the viewable area, leaving excess to the sides. then i just applied a zoom and pan to the images to simulate the effect.

how did you do that pull back and pan on the zoom while taking the time lapse with the group?
