As a native English speaker, this is interesting to listen to.

Is this AI speaking? A native English speaker would not speak at this speed.

Natalie - it's a real person. There's a separate recording a full speed on the website, but some intermediate learners like the slower speed.

Hi George - I apologize, I thought I had replied. This is the slow audio. The fast audio is about 12 minutes total.

The fax machine history was funny! Thanks for it.
@plainenglishpod
@plainenglishpod 9 ай бұрын
The crazy thing is that they had an even worse fax machine at their house (my two bosses were married). At their house, they had a roll of paper, not a tray of individual pages. So when we faxed them, it would come out on a huge roll and they'd have to rip off the individual pages. That mattered because they wouldn't always rip the pages in the right spot. And it would get out of order. And then they'd fax it back to us and all the pages would be out of alignment. Sheesh!

Jeff, is it right to say that when two companies team up it is made with the intention to create a join venture?
@plainenglishpod
@plainenglishpod Жыл бұрын
Not always. A JV is a new legal entity, like a new business, where the JV's two (or more) owners are other businesses. But "team up" can just be an effort two companies do together with a simple contract.

Luc, thanks! I started doing this right when I was about to move from Chicago to Mexico, and I couldn't keep up with the video portion of the recordings ... there's just a lot of moving parts in a video, especially if I want to get the audio right.
