I'm so sorry for what you and all of the businesses have gone through. Who provided the concrete blocks with the handles? I'm in Phoenix and our neighborhoods are trying to find solutions to a small encampment at a park between our neighborhoods before it becomes much larger. It is exhausting for neighbors and businesses. I go out daily in my alley to check for shopping carts and trash. It is nothing like what you had to deal with although we had something similar at The Zone in downtown Phoenix. I am probably a 5-10 minute drive from this area and businesses ended up suing the city of Phoenix . I'm sure you've heard of it since it made the NYT's front page. I hope you continue to live in peace and thanks for the video.

Hello, thanks for the comment. The concrete blocks in the cul-de-sac were purchased by the building and business owners and installed by a private contractor. The rest of the street... we were luck that our neighbor is in the waist disposal business so they provided the large trash bins and right after the city relocated the RV's to clean and disinfect the street, the disposal company occupied the street with large trash bins preventing the RV's from moving back in. Then they replaced the trash bins with concrete blocks. Very important to know when the city is scheduled to cleanup, so that you can occupy territory with your own barriers.

Also it is important to request change of parking signage from the city making it illegal to park overnight. This gives the police power to make the RV's move.

I relate to his younger days of bullyings and the motivation that started to inspire his confidence. I did not achieve his skill levels, by no means, but, enough to defend myself. Later in life when I became fiscally impaired, I realised that for some reason I always seemed like an easy target and started training in Judo. Only because it was the martial arts that allowed me to use the opponent's weight and movement against him, without having to exert too much energy and not having to kick or punch, which I could not do by then.

What if they made the kuwa half as long or even shorter and widened the blade so it becomes almost like a shield? Then you pair it with a side weapon.

Met him this past Saturday, he’s a brilliant man. Very funny, entertaining, charismatic, and super sharp. Even gave some great life advice that will be applied immediately. Stay amazing, Paul.

Paul Durso has been one of the most inspiring people I’ve met in my life. I’m beyond grateful for my continued relationship with this man who has so many complex layers to his life story. Most will never know the fullness of who he is, but it’s been my privilege to learn more than most.

Welcome to California - the Land of the Elite Democrats (who are rich and never impacted by their policies). I think the root cause is the infiltration of drugs into our country. CA is right next to the border that has unrestrained illegal immigration. Some people are fleeing horrible conditions in South America, but many also bring drugs or become mules for drugs to get into this country. Drug addiction can cause psychosis and mania in people. This leads to people becoming homeless. Some working, job-holding, people are living on the street because they cannot afford to rent in CA. The cost of rent is astronomical! We have plenty of wide open space out in the desert. Tax payer money can pay to relocate people out there. This is ridiculous! Thank the Democrats and Gov. Newsom for all of this!

That was a week ago, my condolences to his friends and family, I've been studying his book "Fighting Karate " and his video "Functional Karate " as I have been working on developing my own family martial art, they have been so helpful, I didn't know how innovative and knowledgeable of a martial artist he was until recent years, since a young martial artist I had known him as the inventor of the Kubotan Keychain, but he was so much more, he's an inspiration to me, I'm nearing 60 now , but I saw how active and capable he was even in his later years, I will also try to emulate him and be active for the rest of my life as the Good Lord allows me to do so !

He touched so many people. My condolences to his family and friends. I only had the honor of training with him once, but a cherished memory. A great tribute. It reminded me of how many we have lost in the last few years; Kanazawa, Okazaki, Yamazaki, Demura, and now Tak Kubota. The best way can honor them is to train as they taught us.

We have lost a true giant in this one. It’s hard to overstate his magnanimous contribution to the arts, his students and to his friends and family. He honored tradition and stayed open to innovation. May the carriers of Gosoku Ryu honor his creation and keep the name unsullied. My sincere condolences. 🙏

He was our close family friends for over 50 years. My wife (Carrie Ogawa Wong) and I (Douglas) attended his memorial services on Friday (09/20/24) to a standing room only at the Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. A martial art pioneer and a great martial art teacher. Rest in Paradise until we meet again.

The biggest problem with any form of martial arts is conditioning. And being able to adopt it to the person or real life situations. Regardless of what move or technique if you can’t do it efficient enough then it’s useless.

Excellent very good to adapt to always reach that next level to understand that you are a living breathing weapon of greatness to be ready to strike from every position to read the enemy to counter Dodge all senses sharp weapons on no different than a punch kick block or sweep very good
