Thank you, I’m in Canada. Not getting the right diagnostics. Insurance companies, minimize, deny. Rear ended as a pedestrian.

Thank you, I wasn’t given an assessment at all when brought into emergency at the time of accident. Complicating the assessment process further was an insurance industry bent on minimizing or delaying my ability to obtain proper medical care. Wow. I needed help ad I was so confused. 4 years later and my mobility continues to decline. I’m in Ontario Canada .

I’m 23 year old always normal and healthy. About 3 years ago I was at a trampoline park and I jumped from a 4.5 foot high ledge onto a small trampoline landed with my knees locked out and did a front flip. The moment I landed after stepping off the ledge I felt my hips or my tailbone or something kind of shift or pop and I felt it in the nerves and muscles, it was not painful tho. Ever since that incident my right foot twists outward and everything from my ankles to my shoulders feels crooked and off, my posture is off, i can run but it’s difficult and gets painful. Does anyone know what this is? It’s been 3 years and my posture and everything has not gotten any better but I have gotten used to it to the point where I can just manage to run, work out, fight, go rock climbing, ride a bike and most everything I could before. It’s just everything is still way off and hasn’t improved at all. I just started seeing a chiropractor

The #1 way to know if a Chiropractor is a bad Chiropractor, is if they are a chiropractor. If you hurt, go to a medical physician, and not a quack. Chiropractic isn't medicine, there is zero evidence that it can cure anything other than you having too much money.

"Subluxation", the theoretical basis for all of this. This, by definition, means a joint that is visibly displaced. If you have a subluxation, you are not moving your spine or joint, you are likely in extreme pain, and at risk for nerve damage up to permanent paralysis if you move wrong or someone does something to you wrong. *Chiropractors do not work on subluxation*, it requires physical therapy or surgery. Chiropractic has commandeered the term, using it incorrectly. Chiropractors work on joints that are not visibly displaced, but may not be in an ideal position, condition, or are receiving too much strain. This is not subluxation. Facet joint syndrome, tendonitis, and arthritis are a few examples of conditions a chiropractor will treat. What they do in person cannot significantly change the function of something, but may feel better temporarily. This part gets close to massage therapy. A good chiropractor will immediately work on diagnosing the cause of the problem and leave you with recommendations and/or tools to change your behavior and heal your joints and tissues. If the problem persists and your chiropractor does not recommend or require you to see a physical therapist, get a new chiropractor.

the term subluxation has a medical definition and a chiropractic one. the latter refers to a fixated minor vertebral misalignment impinging nerve tissue interfering with nerve conduction. chiropractors, real ones, correct subluxation as just defined. diagnosis and treatment are medical practices. it is not the purpose of chiropractic to, "heal your joints", or anything else. chiropractic is not complementary or alternative medicine or medicine in any sense and neither wants or has anything to do with it. it is the diametric opposite of medicine in it's purpose and approach.

@@me-hk4rl Right, I meant diagnosis in the general definition, not true medical diagnosis. I'm having trouble interpreting "a fixated minor vertebral misalignment impinging nerve tissue interfering with nerve conduction" - there's no physical correction that can be made, only instruction to improve posture, limit harmful behaviors, and physical pressure that allows blood and/or nerves to function better but only while the pressure is applied. I haven't found any actual evidence of musculoskeletal geometry being shifted, set, or 'corrected' in any way other than through the patient's posture and behaviors. If you can share a good link to thoroughly describe these actions with evidence I'd love to see it but I've never been able to find any.

Some people never done a sport and it shows with how ignorant of chiropractic. Chiropractic and physical therapy fix your sport injuries. A med doctor will either tell you to do nothing, perscribe pain med, refer to surgury or refere to chiro/physio

I am using traction therapy and still walking, biking, and swimming. I am at 95 lbs of compression pull. 20 minutes with 30 second of pull. I am supposed to warm up first and they say swimming actually is a great warm up. If I don’t warm up they put heat on me. Why did your doctor say that? Maybe they just want you to heal. I stopped running for this reason. Good luck!

@@2025Retiree Thanks for the reply. My doctor is a boob. He really does not know what he is saying and somehow it makes sense to him so he told me I would be jeopardizing my traction treatment if I exercised. I knew from what I was experiencing that it had to be wrong. I think doctors often do not realize how active you can be even at seventy years old. They think you are a couch potato and any kind of movement is bad for you. Always go to a doc who treats athletes and active people. Find the one right for you. I have stopped the traction. After five sessions I have gotten no benefit. I am not convinced my butt pain is from my spine. I am doing exercises now for piriformis syndrome and sciatica and it gives me relief. I need to keep working on getting better. Never give up.

As a chiropractor I agree with the majority of the aspects of examination and care discussed here but I do have issues with chiropractors who insist that there is only one way to approach every patient and who say that anyone who doesn't do the same as they do is a 'bad' chiropractor. I'm not necessarily opposed to full spine xrays or pre/post xrays however one needs to keep in mind that xrays are just one part of the exam procedure and may not always be required or even all that helpful. Xrays are taken to rule out serious things that need immediate intervention such as fractures, tumors, infections and various disease processes. In addition they gives a look at how much if any degenerative change (ie osteoarthritis) there may be and also give us a snap shot of the current state of posture and identify structure issues. It should be kept in mind that there generally is not necessarily a direct correlation between Xray findings and patient symptoms or mechanical/physiological dysfunction. Like other examination findings xrays supply a piece to the diagnostic puzzle. There is very little evidence that post xrays have much clinical value as it is virtually impossible to ensure the patient is in the exact same position on the pre and post xray so it is difficult to tell if there is actually a change in the spine or if its simply a positioning artifact. It is also important to note that chiropractic adjustments primarily effect joint function (as opposed to structure) which in turn influences the nervous system which in turn influences your bodies physiology. You may see positive changes in spinal curvatures due changes in muscle tension from the adjustments. There is evidence to suggest that spinal adjustments may slow the progression of arthritic degeneration and may slow or prevent the onset of arthritic degeneration in joints that have yet to show signs of degeneration but there is little or no evidence that adjustments can reverse existing degenerative change or cause a structural change to an abnormal spinal curve unless that abnormality is functional in nature (ie due to neuromuscular issues not structural issues). So what's being 'corrected' is function not structure. That may or may no cause a change in your xray findings. Its important to note that the true indicator of how effective treatment has been is how you feel, how much your functional abilities have improved, and how your overall health and vitality is as opposed to how your post xray looks. I would say if you want to find a 'good' chiropractor don't just look for a grocery list of what they are doing (because its probably slightly different patient to patient) look for chiropractors who's patients are happy with their care and stay in care or return without hesitation and who refer their friends and loved ones to the same chiropractor. Much like most truly rich people don't try to tell you how rich they are and most truly smart people don't try to tell you how smart they are most good chiropractors don't try to tell you how good they are or how bad other chiropractors are.

Chiropractors have to get a degree called the DC which means doctor of chiropractor. They don’t have an MD which is what normal doctors get. But the DC degree is still on par with the MD and PHD. So they are technically doctors. I know this cause my chiropractor literally has his degree and certification to practice on the wall of the office. Remember this back in the Olden days they didn’t call dentist dentist either. That title was coined in the 1700’s. So chiropractics could be just as old but not coined til a certain time with a name and a degree option. Cause in america (the Wild West er) the barber use to pull teeth, do surgeries, and cut your hair all in a day with no medical degree most times. I read the medical history books when I go to the doctors office and it tells history of different degrees in the health field.

Only gymnadtics and strong muscles that shoport your bones can cure it forever, chiropractors can make a pain go away temporarily, but it will be back so you vould spend some more money on chiropractors. If you chieopractor doesnt suggest you to have a proper gymnartics and muscles trainingz run away
