I came here to study this piece, im singing it in my chorus

I was in college when this movement was published. Our wind ensemble world premiered the entire Divine Comedy under the direction of Robert W. Smith at the South Carolina state music educators conference. It was as enjoyable to listen to his thinking and direction from the podium as it was to play the entire suite.

RIP Robert Smith, I'm sure he's playing this piece right now

I can just feel myself rising through the atmosphere, past all the planets and stars and right to the center of reality where the very spirit of Creation resides, the force that moves all of the celestial bodies

Rest in Peace, Robert W. Smith. My high school band had the privilege of playing this movement when I was still there. You will be missed.

The Sky Islands of Tears of the Kingdom. When I first started the game and heard the chords that play when you’re up there, it reminded me immediately of 0:00-1:18

We played this for my college concert band. The bass clarinets got to join in for that first low note. We and the low brass were told “play it loud, but no fog horns and no blowing out your chops”. There was a quick glance between us all, some maniacal grins and we let loose. I can still remember feeling that note in my rib cage.

I just found the clip of my high school band performing this. It was one of my favorite things we played, and I was lucky enough to have the trumpet solo.

Ah, my high school marching program did a version of this piece, along with inferno, in one of our shows. Theme was “knocking on heaven’s door.” This part always gave me chills

We played this my sophomore year of high school. As a French Horn player, I had never been so stoked to play a piece of music. Still one of my favorites!

I was the trumpet soloist for my band. They had me to play down the hall to add more of an echo for it. Then halfway through the performance around 10 students left the performance and would go down the hallway and would yell and scream.

I played this freshman year high school. Our teacher said he was gonna have the senior band play it but thought would have us do it instead.
