Michael had moved on to the Yamaha keys at this point... he was king of the Rhodes but I think Yamaha gave him a big endorsement contract and it cost him big time... His 2nd solo album No Looking Back was a huge disappointment and sounded lousy.

This is only half the story, lots of other factors including Mike being (very) strung out on drugs and alcohol by this point, trying to deal with over exposure on the radio which was starting to kick back on him, his initial touring band breaking up (only best friend Chuck Sabatino remained by 1990) and more. One thing Yamaha did do, was maintain their support during his personal ups and downs which latterly saw Warner Brothers drop him - he had to form his own label RAMP at one stage, in order to releaseBlue Obsession. Some years later, Yamaha also set up an all star gig to celebrate his career which included special guest Ray Charles. One of Mike's earliest influences in St Louis was the album Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. That went almost unnoticed as Ray did not appear on the publicity or DVD due to a contract issue out of Mike's hands. So much more going on in the two decades post Doobies that none of us truly understand including the death of several bandmate friend's not least Jeff Porcaro, Corny Bumpus and Mike's best friend and band mate (here) Chuck Sabatino who was with him in his first musical exploits as young teens. Frankly, it was a blessing that he came out the other end.

One of the best live performances of "Discipline" from the '80s ever! Very rare...
Este es un super disco! Excelentes bandas y excelente selección de canciones, realmente es uno de los mejores discos que he escuchado y que marcaron mi juventud en los años 80s. Gracias por compartir.
