Super bright, super small, it’s been great so far, I only wish it had a focus adjustment

There’s the Ayrton AlienPix but other than that I’ve never seen anything else like this with three continuous rotation axes. It’s a shame that this doesn’t have a true “ufo” shape but any of the new ufo effect lights out of china have limited pan/tilt. I’ve always wondered why one of the most popular disco/club light effects from the 80s has never been 100% replicated in LED. If you want these lights, get them now because they aren’t made anymore.

I figured once we got past the early stages of led lighting where we’re just stacking multitudes of low powered led beads together we’d go back to basic wysiwyg fixtures illuminated with bright low power consumption white leds. I thought it’d be obvious once we got beyond white leds capable of 20 or more watts they’d just start putting those in traditional fixtures. I’d jump at the chance to have a simple classic Vertigo effect illuminated with white leds behind colored lenses. Nothing more complicated than it was before. You plug it in, it runs, no programming, no strobing, not trying to do 100 different effects. Just a basic bright ass light that runs exactly as you expect. I don’t care if it’s a big metal fixture that costs 500 dollars like the old days. It can be done and I don’t know why it’s not. I’ve been putting 100w equivalent corncob style leds in my vintage consumer grade disco lights and the improvement cannot be overstated. I just want old school lighting with modern improvements and I don’t think I’m alone in that.

The problem with replacing the fan in these is that there is no space to add a slightly larger fan (which would be quieter). If I put a larger fan in the light, the zoom mechanism would end up hitting it. You can probably find something quieter, but I have not been able to myself. The fans are temperature controlled and there is a hidden menu in the light that allows you to select a temperature that will trigger the fans. Doing this will let you run the units without any fan noise for a while (don’t let it overheat of course). Overall however I would not recommend this light if noise is a concern.

Do you have the RGB version? The standard only has green.

You can run it with built-in auto programs or sound active but the built-in programs aren’t very good. I highly recommend DMX to get the most out of this light.

I saw your comments on the Chauvet Facebook group. I tried to update it to version 2.0 from 1.9 to fix the pan/tilt problems (they somehow didn’t know about that until I showed them) but I couldn’t get it to work either. What happens exactly when you try to update them?

The tilt angle is more than that. This light can easily hit the floor right below it.

What's your opinion on these, Ive ordered 4 but seen the tilt is rubbish so you don't get full coverage of the wall and floor?

@@richardc1983 The tilt is actually about 90° which is normal for a scanner. These cover a large area with the wide beam angle

Hi! Thanks for your comment. I use an app on an iPad called Vibrio. It can control up to 512 channels. It’s a simple and easy-to-use software but you can still create great shows with it. I believe it costs $89.99 for the full 512 channels and $39.99 for 256 channels.
