This is more worse than XCOM....

Shields are way OP in this game. They boost your evasion and can make your unarmed skills so strong you won't need regular weapons.

I remember when I arrived at this part in the game I was shocked to my core. My Mom happened to walk in and was like WTF are you playing lol. Explaining the beauty of this story to someone is not possible it must be experienced by a young impressionable mind for the full impact. Actually for HP/Stamina and MP/Magic the Pixel Remaster changes how it works, instead of just increasing your chance base on HP/MP at the beginning of the fight minus HP/MP at the end of the fight, it simply takes into account the total HP and MP you lost through the battle, without caring for healing this means for instance if you lost 100HP heal and then lost 100HP again the game will still count as if you've taken 200 damage, so in other words you don't need to finish the fight at low HP and can take as much damage as you want before ending the fight to pretty much guaranteed the HP/MP/Stamina/Magic growth. Worth also to talk about Agility and Evasion, Evasion being the most important stat in the game as it's actually more important for reducing damage than Defense or HP and it also determines who act first during the turn and the higher Evasion% is the higher the chance to get an increase in Agility (which increase base Evasion even further), hence why it's actually better especially at the early game to run with no armors on as most of the armors early reduce Evasion%, Evasion's Hit increase depending of how many time the character got targetted by an ennemy physical attack.
