Obviously by the video it’s hard to depict how loud this system is. So I’m gonna ask, how loud is it really? I want something noticeably loud, great tone etc but nothing that’ll get me letters in the mail from neighbours

Missing those screws is probably because they changed the upper timing chain cover gasket.

you skipped over the cannbus gateway part, on some vids you can access from engine but others its under the pedals, is there a difference if its a gti?

I didn’t have to mess with any Canbus gateway interface. I believe all that is required is that adapter that allows the ECU proper communication with the new head unit.

NOTE: I used VCDS to reprogram the throttle body. Important step that I missed while performing the original video!

Did it work without that? I replaced the thottle body and pedal but still not working. I have not reprogram the throttle body

@@randyfbarrera6526 Yes and no. The original throttle body was faulty. A replacement throttle body was necessary. However, I still had fault codes when I replaced the throttle body, this was fixed by VCDS coding.

If it is a GTI Mk5 with an IHI RHF5 and EA888.1 engine, must be one of the very last units, most of them for the USA market

Men, I have an Audi a3 8p 1.8tfsi and I replaced de throttle body but it still turn on the EPC light, I put de computer and still says the P0221. i don't know what more to do

Did you do the throttle relearn on your OBD scanner? And did you also replace your gas pedal and your throttle body or just a throttle body? Because on Volkswagen and Audi’s, there’s a sensor on the pedal and there’s also a sensor in the throttle body. It’s great when it works but when it doesn’t, you can really notice the changes.

What your missing in the bottom corner is a charcoal canister. Also the thing you pointed to above the throttle body is what is called a fuel purge valve

Bummer. Same car, same color, same mileage...same exactly. Bought the 2 items from your link: head unit and canbus adapter, BUT my steering wheel buttons do not work. I'm hoping as I play around with it that is the only thing not working.

Interesting, I guess play around with pins and the CANBUS. It works for me so I really don’t know what to say. If all else fails maybe you could return it. Let me know if you diagnose it. I’d love to hear what happens.

I don’t know if their is a specific link. They sell in kind of a sketchy way on eBay. However, I really thing most links on eBay are probably valid and would work. Hope you enjoy your GTI as much as I enjoy mine!

Yep, all of the buttons work. Volume and phone button work great, you can change songs but it does also change the mfd on the display. I personally just touch the screen if I want to change song.

Good video man, I have a 2007 gti and I wanted to upgrade the radio but do you know if I'd need to replace the canbus in it because I see people say that gti's manufactured before 08 need a new canbus, but do you think the just adapter itself would fix the issue?

Yes still works perfect. No complaints! Many days with temperatures below -10f and no issues for power drain.

No I did not. The canbus gateway eliminated all parasitic loss.

@@Delblocke The Canbus simulator (extra wiring harness) worked perfectly. I would say that it resolved issues, but I never ran the head unit without the simulator. However, I have had no issues with parasitic battery loss.

I bought the part from CarParts.Com - link to part in BIO. The part is an OEM+ replacement, with minor design modifications. I know that Grams performance makes a performance oriented part, but I elected for the OEM+ part for now

@@albertoiacoeturo9887 does it need coding but it does need to be repositioned with an OBD VAG type scanner. I believe the action is called the throttle re-position which basically test the values of the throttle valve by opening it 100% and closing at 100% in order to relearn in the cars CPU.
