Congratulations Art, may you and Nancy have many years doing what you want to do and when you want to do it. You have made tremendous strides with Bar Mills and I love your kits, the humor that goes into them and keeping them reasonably priced for the common man. Best wishes now and always.

Why are you two fighting like that, the older guy is trying to take down, and just he lol.

I buy packs of artist pastels. I scrape them into a very fine powder with a nutmeg grater. I keep the powder in medical petri or specimen dishes with lids. Much, much less expensive than weathering powders.

Nice! Exciting new kits and some reintroductions look really cool! Great incentives to purchase more as well. You guys always do a great job! Thank you for all you do!

Good video and I appreciate hearing about all the updates you're doing. One (non-critical) production suggestion: work on the audio as it sounds rather tinny/hollow/not very robust???. Keep up the good work.

Art, Thanks for all of the great kits that you've produced over the years and more importantly, making craftsman style kits an accessible part of the hobby for so many model railroaders. I always enjoyed talking with you over the years. Your retirement is well deserved and best wishes for you in everything that you choose to do. Enjoy it!

Been using those acrylic paints for years on my models
@toddbrien41842 ай бұрын
I have been using them for 3 years, really like them, have almost all the colors approx 100. I thin mine with flow aid medium from Michael’s (1 or 2 drops to few of the paint) it hides the brush marks and can be added to the paint about a 50/50 mix to use as a wash. Congrats Len on the new endeavors with Bar Mills

I also use Apple Barrel from Walmart. You will also find Beacon 527 tube cement in the same aisle. It will glue just about anything to anything.

Hi Len!! I like the new Bar Mills format. I go to Lowe’s and get their free paint swabs ( they 100s). Match the swab to the paint I need and then I head back to the paint mixing counter. I get a sample of the paint I need. Usually around $10 or less for the sample which is water based and equal to about 15 or more bottles of the old model paint. Robert Baudler West Des Moines, Iowa

Really looking forward to seeing what O offerings are coming in the future! There are definitely some HO models that would make good fits in the O line :)

Great stuff, Len! I also use Apple Barrel (after a quick/thin coat of cheap primer) ... With these (and most other) craft paints, I usually thin them a bit with water...especially when painting castings, etc. Thanks for everything from sunny SoCal.

Thanks for the two minute tips Tuesday! Something to look forward to every week... I echo what others have said about Michaels and Hobby Lobby - as near as I can tell, craft paint is pretty much all the same. (Although, Apple Barrel seems to be a little thinner than the others.) I will add this: I recently opened my jar of Model Masters Acrylic Aluminum paint, only to find a nearly solid lump of goo in the jar. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I added an equal amount of distilled water and let the paint sit overnight. The next day, I was able to mix up the paint and apply it just as always. Don't give up on acrylic paint!

I use the other brands of the cheap acrylics . Folk Art, Deco Art and Craftsmart. Also, Tamiya occasionally. Good luck Len with your new position😊

Don't forget Hobby Lobby. I use Army Painter spray primers for some applications.

Like the Two Minute Tips concept! I have been using the cheap craft paints like you mentioned but have started migrating over to Tamiya paints. Which I choose will depend on what I happen to be working on (ex wood kits, don't need fancy acrylics, for styrene kits absolutely want to use higher pigment paint such as Tamiya). I just noticed that your video output is only 720p which will not do justice to your detailed closeups. Just fyi.

Enjoyed your first 2 Minute Tuesday about paint. I personally use Vallejo Model Color, Army Painter Speed Paints for figures and resin models that I get from Sunward Hobbies, but for other items I use Deco Art - Americana as they have lots of colors and are easy access and inexpensive at Michaels here in Calgary, Alberta Canada Keep up the great videos. Look forward to each Tuesday.
