In southern New Zealand we keep bee's outdoors but we don't build a apairy house for them but then we don't have termites or anything else that's destructive to the beehives here because it's too cold for them. This was very interesting thank you 👋👍

This is the right size bee house! This will allow your bees to gather enoughh to live year around without having to abandon their home from lack of food during the off season! Now you must learn how to devide yyour colonies and prevent swarming! Good luck with your bees!

Why should the hive face north or south?

You wiill find that only an exceptional locational location will feed as many as 50 coloniea during the whole year! There may be plenty of food during a heavy nectar flow but we all know that heavy nectar flows dont last forever. I wish they did! Bees can go as far as 6 or 7 kilometers when they have to but every kilometer they have to fly cuts down on their yield!! If you have too many bees in an area you get a smaller amount of honey from a larger number of colonies! The flowers around an apairy will make work for maybe 2000 workers at most! At capacity of 50 colonies you are going to have maybe 2,5oo,ooo bees in residence so you are going to need hundreds of millions of flowers to feed these bees each DAY! So you never want to put these bee sheds closer than 7 or 8 kilometers apart! Good luck with your bees!
