You must be wondering why Santa Claus content in October and even before all the other festivals. Well, it's just me getting a head start on an interesting order for a friend. Also, a standalone item like this worked well for the first process video of this Quietbooktober series. So many small steps to create a single finger puppet no? I mean I know it's a personal preference to stitch all the pieces, but I love how it turns out in the end. Here are 5 things I do differently today than when I started out 1. Using a white thread instead of constantly changing thread colours. I do understand that it looks neater with the same colour thread but I do that only when there is a lot of stitching to be done in a specific colour. 2. Instead of stitching the details like eyes and eyebrows, I typically use paint markers or 3d liners. I just prefer the final look and it saves a lot of effort too 3. Alternatively, for some details like eyes and mouth, I've started using the cut out method and a backing in the required colour. 4. Backstitch the edges for sturdiness, especially at the ends of finger puppets so the wear and tear is lesser due to frequent opening and inserting of the fingers. 5. Using a curved edge scissor for cutting. It's a game changer for me. I knew about in the past too but I only recently found the right type (shops would only show me the nail ones and not fabric ones). I do have a 6th point to add to the above list but I have it noted down as a separate video idea this month so make sure you stay tuned for this series. Also, let me know how you liked this video and I hope you watched it till the end. #quietbookcreator #quietbooktober #fingerpuppet #santaclaus #processvideo #fyp #explorepage

Quietbooktober day 3 🎉 First, do share this with someone who might be interested in making felt toys or quiet books. So here's my take on this topic. This is a brief introduction and I will be adding some more detailed videos in the future too. Today machine stitching is my go to and when you want to make felt toys or quiet books as a business I would say machine stitched products are the best to go for. They are much sturdier. Having said that, there are exceptions to this rule. For eg, some of the products with stuffing require handstitching. Sometimes I also add a few details using hand stitching (eg the specs of my doctor finger puppet in the 5 little monkeys set). You could also handstitch as an alternative to using a sewing machine if you are not familiar with them. I will share a few basics of this soon. Gluing is something I do everyday. I am not an expert sewist, in fact I have self taught myself whatever I know today. So I always glue before stitching on the machine just so things stay in place. Gluing only without any form of stitching is a controversial topic for me. I feel this type of product lacks sturdiness. Now, if you are doing this for a product for your child (who is slightly older), there may not be any issue. But younger children will try to peel off things when the glue starts coming off. Using gluing for components in the background might still work well. But when it comes to manipulative parts which the child can take off, atleast stitching with hand will make it last longer as well as be a safer product for infants and young toddlers. If you are liking this series, don't hesitate to let me know by commenting below. Your engagement keeps me going. And make sure to follow me if you want to stay tuned on this series. #quietbooktober #quietbookdiy #quietbookmaking

Efficient planning is key to ensuring a quiet book is both engaging and useful. Here are some planning tips for both makers and customers ordering quiet books: Tips for Makers ✅ Define the Purpose and Audience whether it’s for sensory stimulation, skill-building, storytelling, or calming. Determine the target age group, as activities would differ accordingly. ✅Choosing a Theme makes the book cohesive. It also helps narrow down activities that align with the chosen theme. ✅Plan Skill-Based Activities: Think about the skills you want to target, such as fine motor skills (zippers, buttons), hand-eye coordination, or cognitive skills (matching, counting). ✅Make a rough Sketch of each page to visualize the layout and elements you need. ✅Check if any raw materials need to be ordered according to the plan ✅Safety Considerations: Plan for the safety of the child, especially when it comes to small parts like buttons or beads, which could be choking hazards. Ensure all components are securely attached and use non-toxic materials. ✅ Portability and Durability: If the book is intended to be taken on the go, consider adding a closure mechanism, handles, or designing it to fit into a bag. Durable materials and sturdy stitching will make the book long-lasting. Tips for Ordering Quiet Books ✅Communicate Needs and Preferences: Mention specific skills you want to develop or your child’s favorite interests, such as animals or colors. ✅Consider the Age Group: Specify your child’s age to ensure the activities are age-appropriate. Younger children need simpler activities, while older children benefit from more challenging pages. ✅Request Theme Ideas: If your child has a favorite character, hobby, or interest, request that these be included in the book's theme. This helps keep the child engaged and excited to use the book. ✅Discuss Safety Features: Ask about safety features such as securely attached elements and non-toxic materials. ✅Plan for Growth: Consider asking for a book that offers different levels of difficulty or activities that can be revisited in different ways as the child grows. This helps extend the usefulness of the book. ✅Choose Customization Options: If possible, ask for personalization, such as including your child’s name, or pages that target specific developmental milestones they need support with.

Needles and threads are a part of every household and are hence not included. I have also purposely not added items like glue, 3d paint liners etc because these are generic and such a small quantity is used (which would unnecessarily up the price of the kit). I do have alternative methods to work without the paint liners in the tutorial video. If anyone wishes to add these items to their kits, we can work it out separately.

Hello there! Thank you for interest in this book. If I make it again I'll definitely share a tutorial. In India however, most people want books that last a lot longer (than a touch and feel book alone would) for the price they pay, so I don't get asked for this design anymore.
