Good morning there are times when it is better to watch a fight without commentary. This was one of those. The fight was closer than the impressions the commentators were trying to convince people. Hilton won the first round by what should be a 10 to 8 score. They kept harping about 10 to seven. The second third and fifth rounds were very close and could've been scored as even rounds. Hilton also won rounds 8. 10. 12 . 13 and 15. Round 11 was also close. Drayton won rounds 4 he scored a knockdown in this round which was ruled a slip. He also won rounds 6.7.9.and 14..This was a close fight. Hilton threw several low blows and was never cautioned by the referee. Commentators must realise that many fans really know this sport and have good eyes and ears.

I really enjoy seeing these classic games. I grew up during the 70's. I was born in 1967. The 70's was my childhood, and the 80's were my teenage years. In didn't matter which decade it was however. In both of them I absolutely loved Baseball and Football. I played Little League in the 70's and High School Football in the 80's. My Family used to go to see the Milwaukee Brewers at Milwaukee County Stadium during those years. From 1978-1982 we went to a LOT of Brewers games and I absolutely loved every single one of them! They were all very special times. Watching the MLB on Television was also something I used to love, especially the All-Star Games, that is until they turned them into basically an exhibition game. ESPECIALLY the NFL's Pro-Bowl. That isn't even a game anymore. At least the MLB All-Star Game Home Field advantage for the World Series is on the line for the winning team, and that is extremely important!

Hilton declined after this fight . Two more defences and his tittle reign was finished. Took a beating for 12 rounds against another Philly fighter in Robert Bam Bam Hines and he was never the same again . Unfortunate because up until this fight with Drayton he looked like he was going to be a superstar 🥊

Ray started timing him in 1st round, moving outside Perez’s stiff, but predictable jab, countering with right hands and hooks. By 2nd round, Ray knew he had him figured out. Pete was excellent top welter who beat savvy Randy Shields who had exposed Cuevas and later Hearns. Ray maturing as Pete, Palomino, Price and Pepino were getting older. Pete went on to successful career in CA prison system. Exciting fighter.

Macullum and Hopkins 2 great similar all time champs. For sure but I have both together they remind me of each other. Far as Larry is concerned they dieing to take his tittle and fail enough the first Spinks fight but he came back and one second fight easy. But shit refs.

FYI in the program for the Leonard vs Hagler fight in April that year Curry was talking shit that he wanted the winner of that fight. He obviously disregarded McCallum.

Curry was only 26 at this time. A young prime fighter. McCallum was just better.

While Rich Little is truly talented in impressionism, he doesnt not have that extra edge of pointing out each persons eccentricities with his impressions. A great impression points each person's tics and peculiar traits, much like an Al Hirshfield's caricature, to have a pointed satire. Without it, its just a photocpy of the subject. He has alsonfailed to keep up with the times. His Richard Nixon, Cary Grant, Burt Lancaster, and many of Hollywood's Golden Era is old and fails to connect to anyone under 60 years old. Who knows or cares what Jack Benny or James Cagney were? Not today's audience.

Pete must of missed the class where they teach how to clinch when a boxer is in trouble. The referee should of been bought up on charges for allowing Sugar Ray to hit dude so many times with unnecessary punches because he was obviously out on his feet. And last the announcer who said they stopped the fight to soon,needed his head checked out for saying that dumb sh!t.

Why was Cooper booed? 🤔🤷
@EdsterIII
@EdsterIII 7 күн бұрын
They weren't booing Cooper. Back then fans would chant or yell COOP! COOP! COOP! COOP! COOP! At Milwaukee County🏟Stadium🏟 during the late 70's into the 80's whenever Cecil Cooper was announced the entire Stadium would erupt with COOP! chants.

Camacho, one of the best when at his peak. He did degrade as we went up in weight and spent years in jail. His bad habits didn't help, as happened so to many other legendary boxers.

Rosario got bad advice from his corner to be a man and to throw more. He should have been told to box from the middle of the ring. Rosario may not have won but it would have given him a chance to land cleaner shots and avoid taking a beating. Chavez was unbeatable.
