I’m struggling to get my G4 Doorbell Pro to work properly. I’ve got a cheap Deta chime with a built in transformer but I can’t use it. So I set mine up using the transformer that comes with the G4 Doorbell? It works for about 30mins the powers down! I don’t have a multimeter so can’t check the voltage. Like you I ran it off the ground floor ceiling lights. Really stuck, should I buy the same Byron chime as you?

Does the ubiquity tranformer fit into the chime? so i could run mains direct to the chime? my bell wouldnt be anywhere near the fusebox.. thank you in advance
@ScottFreee3
@ScottFreee3 2 жыл бұрын
It might just squeeze in sideways, I didn't try as mine is beside the fuse box. Worse case you could buy a second chime, gut the inside and then it should fit, so when you look you would have 2 chime boxes. 1 houses the transformer and the other the chime.

Would there be any way to connect the G4 to a normal battery doorbell? As we have a hide wires with 3 battery bells so we just need it to make the circuit for a second or two
@ScottFreee3
@ScottFreee3 2 жыл бұрын
You will need to use a relay the ring the doorbell then as the door bell needs 16v feed.

Hello, thanks for the video. Absolute life saver. Just finished my own G4 install today and the only little issue I appear to have is that there is a 2-4 second delay on the chime ringing after pressing the button on the G4 itself. Any thoughts as to why this may be? Did you see it in your testing at all? I have essentially exactly the same set up as yourself. Same chime and using the Ubiquiti transformer (but powered off a fuse spur instead of the consumer unit). Thanks in advance.

My ring is nornally on release of the button, or the odd time 1 second after. I have at issues with it disconnecting alot, so I have put it on a seperate wireless network, with the AP unit on high power and 5ghz. So far looks better
@occasionallytom
@occasionallytom 2 жыл бұрын
@@ScottFreee3 Thanks for the reply! Mine seems to be every time at the moment - 2 or 3 seconds after the button release. I shall persevere! It does at least work, which is better than it sitting in its box (which it has done for nearly a year up to now!). Thanks again for the video.
@occasionallytom

@@ScottFreee3 Apparently, the delay is down to a suspected software bug (after reading through the community forums). Quite a few people seeing the same issue. Ubiquiti claiming its outside temperature related but not convinced myself.

Really nice setup, nice rig too, I wish I had the CAD drawings for it. To be honest, there is also the tactile factor to not forget, the G29 is great and works fine, but I think it's design does not immerse you in the reel feel of driving a car like Fanatec ecosystem does. Once you upgrade with a shifter, handbrake and different style of wheels, you can really feel like you get true feedback for each type of car you're driving.

Wouldn’t your setup constantly keep the chime under action (even if not hearable)? At least for my chime it has a similar setup. 0 and 3 are connected because they form the electromagnet. 1 and 2 are also connected but just to allow simple passthrough. So using this setup would always keep the coil of the chime in action (even if it not enough to trigger any action until the button is pressed). Based on the UniFi setup normally 3 should be T and 0 should be F, at least for the regular chime setup, but it is interesting that the additional chime box introduced ghostings in your tests.
@ScottFreee3
@ScottFreee3 2 жыл бұрын
Yes the chime is always slightly energised. Ideally I need a 24v chime, but they are pricy, so for now this will do. Sadly the 16v power supply is giving out 22v. Otherwise this would be perfect

I say it would, it is fairly intense. It comes with rubber isolators, you could use them between the rig and PC to reduce the vibration, but not sure how effective it would be
