With a confident stride, the man in green headed outside to a hallway engulfed in shadows, and there, he met her - someone he once knew. A butterfly, a girl dressed with cinders. His heart lit aflame, thinking about how fortunate he was to meet someone he thought he'd never see again. That girl died long ago. Yet beside her, there he was - a rebel in red and black. Someone he knew, who resented him. It didn't matter, as long as she's back here, he had to spend the ball with her, like how they used to. After all, he vowed to take her hand and dance with her the last time there was a ball. The Annual Mid Autumn, To Winter Ball, Celebrated Before The Reverian 'Three Diamonds' Festival. Taking his gloved hand in hers, he pulled her away from the rebel with a charming smile, one that she will remember in another dream. One that felt familiar, like a gentle magic spell that told her that she could believe him, the Hatter who dreamt of everything he knew. And together, they went back inside the palace. Although a sinking feeling in his chest reminds him of the past - or is it the present? Or the future? This dream, is it a warning, or is it respite? Whatever it was, all he could think was - "No one matters but you." The man in green danced with her, supposedly, Under The Silver Moon, spinning her round and round like clockwork, her cold hand in his felt foreign. Yet, her presence was welcome. Her limp body and weak smile, though, brought caution to the man in green. Something about the palace opened up a deep wound in her heart, the red strings that bind the man to the Blue Rose sat atop a silver throne became a clear warning that she shouldn't be here. After all, a fairy godmother who had lost her cane warned her that she'd be covered in cinders shall she extend her stay. The butterfly would lose its wings to fire. The magic of the dreamlike ball would end at Midnight. . . . The rebel in red and black stood still in the hallway in trepidation. His red gloves, like blood coating his hands are a constant memory of the past. He'll lose her again, but how can he change this? Everything was out of his control. Do it for her, do it for her fleeting smile akin to a flower in full bloom only to wilt away once the autumn winds sets in. But thankfully, the mage in white had made it by his side, arms crossed with a look full of scorn - the rebel swallowed. "Rescue her, 𝘌𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦." ... He only wanted for her to have sweet dreams. Yet, this love that the man in green felt for her, and her distant gaze didn't feel very sweet. It's a bitter kind of love, and every time the man took a look at her eyes, he'd only see a dimming red sunset. It's the same look she gave to him long ago, when she earned the title of 'the girl covered with cinders'. When the midnight bells toll, the rebel behind the mask shows up - "I've come for you." Her eyes lit up and she rushed over to him, hand in the rebel's bloodstained one. The prince had a realization that it was his fault - the red strings he was connected to, the watchful eyes of the Blue Rose was what gave her that look. How foolish, and yet, he couldn't blame her. Seeing that bright smile of hers the moment she steps outside of the palace, like a dove soaring free, soon to depart for an eternity. He'll lose her again, for the second time - but that smile is enough to convince him that this was the right path. Breaking this cycle, his sweet dream became bitter, and her bitter dream came to be sweet. No matter what, he'll break free and vow to share both of their dreams, where warmth and love are present in their hearts. And when that day comes where he finds peace away from the chains that bind him to the Blue Rose, he'll rescue her at midnight. But he could only dream, 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴.
