A bow cover as shown about 4 hours. The cockpit cover takes a full 8 hours using my methods. Add shop's time spent on quote day, time Betsy spent ordering material and the choreographing of boats in and out of the shop. My job was to create the best products and keep her updated on completion. A lot of her time was wasted chasing customers. Include this time in your quotes. I have a video called quotes and renders in the Low & Slow playlist. Good Luck. -EZ

How is the reliability of rebuilt edwards vacuum pumps? Is it reliable enough to use in hvac field?
@ezone913
@ezone913 25 күн бұрын
PI buys pallets of secondhand pumps. Each will go thru an Eval and get tagged. Some are lightly used some are shit. Ralph has a set of standards each component must pass, test run time it must achieve. There's no money in warranty work. Call PI explain your needs, how many CFM you need to move and the ideal millitorr you wish to achieve. Have pics of your current pump setup to send, it may have trade-in value even if all it does is make noise. He has cut and paste pumps to save you money if you know it's going to be used hard and put away wet and dirty. He has clients that just run them until they quit. As you see from the videos, oil contamination is the common killer of wet vacuum pumps. Always keep the IN/OUT covered tight between uses and change with the proper case oil when it shows any color. Warm and clear as water pulls lowest numbers. Good luck.

I hope there's enough here for you to learn my methods. The advantages I enjoyed at this location are the huge table (10'X28'), and the powerful Consew machines. Also notice, my infeed table is inline with the needle path. Sewing interiors, you sit right in front of the needle. With large projects you must sew side-saddle to keep things flat and off the floor, just before they go under the stitch. Line up, pull taunt, sew that 30", reset and repeat. Best of luck learning canvas work, -EZ

@ezone913
@ezone913 2 ай бұрын
With Sunbrella Marine fabric, the 3 Bs. Bind it, Burn it, or Bury it. -The Sailrite Swing-Away binder is the best I've used. -The adjustable hot knifes put a stout burn on the fabric edge that will resist fray for years. -A double hem will bury that live edge where it can not fray far. Some will use pinking shears to cut the zigzag pattern along the entire edge, but that's highly impractical for covers this size. A standard 21' runabout should only take 8 hours to fabricate, quote them as 12 hours to cover admin costs and any mishaps during production. When everything aligned, we we're processing 1 boat a day. Good Luck, -EZ

What do you do to ensure that there is enough room for the bar when you’re making the pockets for the bars.
@ezone913
@ezone913 3 ай бұрын
When making the pattern I draw the line on the stress side (the side the pole pushes against when deployed). I sew the pocket on inside that line to try and place he stitches directly above the pole. Our stitches are strong in the linear plain. When we stress them laterally at 90* angles stitches in fabrics become more a perforation and tear away like a paper from a notepad. I used to use a piece of scrap pole with our standard crown in it and lay it in place to draw the zipper line. After a while... you just know where it goes. 😉 -EZ

@ezone913
@ezone913 3 ай бұрын
Very few boat owners care about the seams being symmetrical. One did and made a short stink. I told him he ordered a long-lasting boat cover for birds to shit on. Job One, was to stitch the shit out of it, not fabricate a fine Armoni suit for the boat. I can do that, but the price more than doubles for a beauty cover. Should we go up front and crunch those numbers? Upon second look....

In the desert sun, the vinyl backing separates and flakes away in just a few years. Properly sealed Sunbrella sheds water quite well, is super strong and doesn't scratch. There's no need for a 100% rainproof fabric in the desert. LOL This is what the boat came with, it's what he wanted.

Freeze frame at 1:21 and note the notch cut into the bottom of the bobbin cover plate, near side left. Now note the hole in the casting near side track, just where the plate enters the groves. In that hole should be a spring and a blunt pointed plunger, to act as a detent for the door. Force the bobbin plate off but be ready to catch to plunger, she will want to take flight. If you change plates a lot like I did, run without spring/plunger and keep the tang on your basic door at proper tension to keep it in place. All binders need a thumb screw plate to lock them in tight to the machine or it will suck them in and run them over. LOL Sailrite swing-away are the best binders I've ever used.

Brushed servo motors like the one featured are okay for a machine that doesn't need any actual power like a high speed garment weight machine but really subpar for a compound feed walking foot, especially a long arm like this consew. Why, because brushed DC motors will stall so hard when started under load, or when experiencing load at low speed. You can literally stop this style of motor from spinning with your bare hand on the motor pulley. Brushless servo are much better. They actually provide some low rpm torque which translates into the punch power the machine head needs to perform adequately at low speed.
