Fantastic upload, and a great performance by Colin Firth and the rest of the cast. It’s not often you see a film made about The Falklands War. This upload especially was a massive inspiration for my own film about the war which can be found on my channel. Thanks for the inspiration!

As Vini knows only to well the music system doesnt give a feck about music, good or bad makes no difference, its just another way for leeches to make money.

I just did my first listening of this Durutti Column's track. I don't have words to describe what I just eared and how it makes me feel. Joy Division and Ian Curtis are one of my favourite band ever. 80's are the best period for that kind of music. I'm a big addict to minimal/cold/darkwave & post-punk. I've a got a lot of these obsküre vinyl records. Here in Belgium we have a lot of very inspiring synth/punk/xprmntl artists like Polyphonic Size, à;Grüm, Snowy Red, The Neon Judgment, Front 242, etc.... This electronic side of punk is where punks found their place after the mass invasion of punk. Electronic is more radikal and it keeps boring masses far away.

My brother only 10 days previous to me writing this post took his own life by walking into the sea, he has not yet been found and possibly never will be. This song perfectly captures the pain that will forever be with me.. sleep well my beloved Benji.

There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend The dream was wrought Where thoughts were heard Love is reserved From previous times [chorus] Like a dead bird in the dirt Like a rusty can on the ground I don't believe in stardom Machinery in action Full of experts Full of experts Same old order Same old order Same old order Watch with obsession Some accident of beauty Try to capture As the light begins to fail Shapes to compose Shadows of frailty The dream is better Dissolves into softness But the end The end is always the same [chorus] There was a boy I almost knew him A glance exchanged Made me feel good Leaving some signs Now a legend

Was it really an IC tribute? In the pre internet world I knew so much less than now with you guys and gals informing me!
@jamesonjaksch48838 жыл бұрын
Maybe, the song came out in 1985. So it could be, that just seems like such a long time to make a tribute.
@tdawson1988 жыл бұрын
the song was in the 1981 album LC by Durutti Column, and was written and recorded as a response to fellow labelmate's death in the same year.

Vini Reilly is probably the most important person in the Manchester music scene. he bridges the gap between joy division/new order/palatine and the madchester scene. Jerry and the Pacemakers were to Liverpool what Vini Reilly IS to Manchester.
@tdawson1988 жыл бұрын
Bernard Sunmers actually produced baggy, Vini gave up on it. Sunmers is the bridge to that specific part. Vini is the bridge to jangle-pop of the Smiths through Morrisey's first solo album. There was a lot of Mancunian nepotism in the music scene between the late 70s and 90s, and now that nepotism is dead we have industry plants like The 1975 running the entire music scece. Shambles.

Is he really that important when no one has heard of him? And I've never heard anyone say they were directly inspired by him. I like his music, though.

@@auteurtheory7674 There's a word to this question: Underrated. Anyway he was and still is a Genius with a great talent. Not everyone's we hear about are talented. The world is full of famous mediocre
