I loved them SO MUCH as a kid. Lived in Boston but went to Newport a couple of times armed with their album cover to look for their house!

An interesting miscellany of songs--I was not prepared for the Don GIbson country classic! The group is just ADORABLE here. Nothing slick and overproduced--just their talented selves.

They are so supremely talented....I come back and rewatch it regularly. For an update listen to the "Benefit Concert for Billy Cowsill" from September 2004. They are still as amazing as ever. ❤️

The two best Cowsills were Barry on vocals and John on drums. John's own number was hobbled by mic placement and singing while seated (the reasons there are so few singing drummers, as opposed to drummers who sing on occasion or vice versa), but he absolulely stole Bill's number. And Barry's "Please Mr. Postman" cover is literally better than the Beatles. Being known as the inspiration for a sitcom doesn't do the band justice. They also inspired the Jackson 5, the Osmonds, and Queen. Yet their father screwed them over like the Beach Boys'. Reply

I get so homesick listening to the Cowsills. They make me miss yesterday so much. Being young. Playing with my siblings and friends. Laughing. Dreaming. Feeling new and possible. So nostalgic. So wonderfully pulling. Where's that technicolor time portal? ❤

Just like the partridge family there is no real talent here. Maybe two good songs but that does not equate to talent, the partridge family only had a half of a good song. I know, I know, they’re cute though!

Susan was adorable then, and at 67 still is and continues to be the energizer bunny. What their dad did to them is so similar to what Murray Wilson did to Brian and the rest of the brothers in The Beach Boys. Both jealous egotistical drunks.

Imagine being the mother of all of those talented children and performing on stage with them! What joy must have been in her heart. RIP Barbara, and your children who are now reunited with you! And Bob, Paul, John and Susan, as long as you are able, please continue bringing musical joy to the world - we need you now more than ever!!

In case anyone forgot, they had gigs doing tv commercials for the American Dairy Council, "Milk has the lift that lasts", the Spirograph commercial, the theme song to "Love American Style". Have i forgotten anything? They were all over the map, and then dad got greedy, and it was game over. What can you say?, except wonder what might have been?
