I took the two year course and graduated as CVT in 2013 from a college in PA. The requires you to take the CCI rcis exam before graduation so i took it and didn't pass in the first try. I said i would take the exam in a later time and started applying to get a job. I've had several interviews for about threw to four months after graduating but wasn't able to secure a job. I talked to someone at the CCI office that checked my records and said i am eligible to retake the exam. Please what do you advise me? I still have all the books and i never looked at them since graduation. I am in the category 3 that you mentioned where i am learnt everything as a beginner

@@MoriGila Hi! Fellow CVT here, based on your description what I am hearing is you have not been working in the cath lab and are just now looking to reenter the field but need the RCIS. Welcome back!! A lot has changed since 2013 but you have strong self awareness you’re starting from scratch. That’s a huge first step! I’d say you need both the RCIS study guide + Orientation Manual combo. The manual (new edition coming 9/25) will help you rebuild that foundation from your program, and help you fill the gaps on some of the newer equipment they ask about. But that structure will help you have a productive timeline, versus not really knowing where to start. Start with the study guide, follow the instructions to segment the content and THEN dive into the orientation manual to get context/details. DM me on IG while you’re studying and I’ll send you links to equipment you may not have seen before to help!

I've been working as a CVT for almost a year. I am preparing to take the RCIS and have already ordered your study material. How long would you suggest I study to prepare to take the exam?
@dontmissabeat.youtubeАй бұрын
This depends on what you're exposed to. If you work in an adult lab, see peripheral, structural heart and have a decent volume of cases: 6-8 months would be the ideal low-stress timeline. I have seen people succeed with shorter timelines but I would allot 6-8 months to not rush your study structure. You could always move your date up if you feel prepared earlier but this way you do not add the stress of a short timeline, to an already stressful schedule. Especially if you're balancing working FT and call. Once majority, if not all, of the topics in my study guide are in your green "Know it 100%, understand it" category - you're more than sufficiently prepared! (Extra tip: If you implement learning the 'why' behind each concept early-on, vs memorization, you really cut your timeline down because you're building a reliable foundation that will make layering new concepts on much easier).
