I dont think we need to decide between quality and quantity, its just they dont need to spend so much on special effects (was it even worth the money spent on space babies) - so we could have more episodes, but still high quality focused on the characters and the script to keep it interesting, not the big screens and cartoon dogs.

Series 3 and Martha are very underappreciated. Agree that human nature is better than blink. I would also put utopia above blink (but only as a stand alone episode 😂). Looking forward to your ranking of series 4, the best season of all!

You had the main thing they have screwed up in first 2 mins . Pretty cgi and fancy moments are not dr who. .dr who is a sci fi story show with 45 mins approx to tell that story...sci fi is often at its best when it covers complex topics...wasting a huge chunk of the budget and more importantly wasting important seconds on faff simply shows the weak writing and tries to cover it up with glitter. Low budget dr who forced the main focus to be the story, the characters and the backstory.. dr who has a lot in common with red dwarf...a small group on a ship dealing with the obscure problem of the day...both were built on the interactions between the main cast...both have been destroyed by getting rid of that and replacing it with visual shiny

Did not feel anything like Dr who even the girl Dr still felt kind of like Dr who. I think the only episode that really felt like a Dr. Who episode was episode 5 with the social media bubbles.

Hey Matt! Personally the Disney deal has been very helpful for me watching the show (no longer having to VPN my way onto the BBC), and the money was noticeable, but the stories themselves were what I would have expected without the Disney deal. I just wonder how much the Disney deal resulted in the decision for only 8 episodes. I'm still confused as to why they didn't do more episodes with less money each episode, as I'm sure BBC would have preferred, so I wonder if Disney has a preference for shorter series these days.

Yes, it was great and the BBC did cancel doctor who with the Whitaker Regen, and was moving to specials to cover the budget. Without Disney there would only be the Xmas Special with older Doctors. Note how they aged a couple of them inthe new series. With any luck we will get the origina of the Deca and Gallifrey from the Shobogans and truth of History. Also if they cant review an episode block them. Dont feed them

I'd put Girl in the Fireplace at #1 as I've lost count how many times I've re-watched it. Then possibly School Reunion at #2 for the return of Sarah-Jane Smith.

😂 wow what a downfall this show has had. Breaking the fourth wall trying to be funny. Musical numbers (not only this episode). Almost poetic how the man responsible for it's revival is also the man who will put in it's final nail in the coffin.

Utter garbage

Most of the episodes I dislike are purely from cut lines, not even full scenes, just cut lines. The finale sucks to me cause they only had one line establishing that the rope made molecular bonds therefore Sutekh couldn't remove it. The dance sequence is super out of nowhere but there was a cut line where the doctor said music suddenly returning will make things go weird for a few minutes, building up the musical number. I can't remember the rest but RTD keeps cutting crucial information that would only add a maximum of 30 seconds of run time each, and it either ruins the landing of certain episodes or just makes certain things make no sense at all. The season wasn't bad, I'm still watching it. I mean series 11 made me stop watching completely until Jodie's finale, then I rewatched some of her actually good episodes in hind sight. But season 1 definitely had more holes in it than the average post 2005 series would, more misses than hits. Season 2 has more guest writers though so here's hoping that it'll be better than this was. Good but could be far far better

Tbh, i can barely remember what happens in the episodes at the bottom of the list, so thats a fair place for them. Even though Ive seen them all 10 times. Did you watch this season in 2005 (you look way too young ;))? i remember at the time the bad effects and silliness of it all didn't seem that out of place (for a TV show), only when looking back.
