I'm writing this comment based on the title alone. I completely agree. Now to the review...

This is an interesting game, although of course it’s a bit short of a masterpiece. The plot is quite good, the characters and their motivation are also not bad, but unfortunately the combat system turns some skirmishes into ten-minute killings of the same enemies in the same locations. Of course, you can quickly level up by killing innocent NPCs, simultaneously finding out their secrets and sins in order to gain more experience, but this will lead to a darker ending. The graphics don't look very good either, but the music hits the spot. In any case, it's not a bad experience if you decide to play through it.

Read the books. Most of the stuff you see is actually propaganda, produced by the imperium to cast a biased light. Big E got bodied by Horus in their fight. Emps gave up his godlike powers for the fight, Horus had all Four gods juicing him.

Pretty decent overview but I have some things to add. The Thunder Warriors were destined for a slow death via organ failure. So their deal was even worse and somehow better than what other warlords/rivals/madmen were doing on Terra. I'm talking about human centipedes, daemonic possessions,... Raven Guard also had a project to create superior space marines quickly but they got sabotaged by Alpha Legion. All guardsmen are expected to use cover, same as charge the enemy or reload. There are penal legions who are even more expendable than new recruits and expected to soak up bullets while the newbies still get to use special and heavy weapons. Veteran guardsmen get more special and heavy weapons as benefits alongside some enhancements or cybernetic replacements. They may even get promoted as Grenadiers made for frontal assaults. Tanks and artillery are in fact even more vital for IG operations than sheer numbers, at least in most IG officers' eyes. Many generals like to deploy kill teams of veterans, scions/stormtroopers and abhumans to disrupt enemies pre-battles. Other specialized units like combat engineers, scouts, rough riders and abhuman auxiliaries also exist. The Krieg shovel meme has no basis sadly, in fact one novel has Krieg guardsmen panicking and picking up every gun around them (even those used by traitor militia) to shoot at charging Chaos Space Marines. If Krieg guardsmen have any choice, they would always have artillery and tanks pound marines first, then step closer with meltaguns. In melee, they instead use trench clubs and bayonets. Vostroyans aren't French, they're a mix of Napoleonic-era Russians and Cossacks. You're right that they have a lot of pride about their families and regiments given that both are literally the same. They also have superior weapons and craftsmanship to even Cadian gear because of their homeworld and ties with Admech. I personally like the Armageddon regiments more than Krieg ones. We have mechanized warfare and Rambos using Ork guns. There are other playable subfactions like: Arbites (heavily trained and armed paramilitary police force/FBI) Imperial Fleet (including Rouge Traders - privateers, businessmen, explorers and discarded political threats - with armed Voidsmen and more elite Navy Breachers geared to board even Space Hulks) Militarum Tempestus - comprised of commissars and tempestus scions. The latter are probably the best human soldiers in the entire Imperium. They're the quiet professionals who get things done and are relied for many things by IG commanders. They've even worked relatively smoothly with Tau and Flesh Tearers before, or achieve genuinely impressive results against Craftworld Eldar and Dark Eldar. There are other Imperial super soldier projects like Afriel Strain (cloning the Imperium's greatest generals and soldiers but every subjects get horrible luck) and Gland War Veterans (genetically and biologicaly modified by Admech branch of Geneticists to fight in toxic environments and even won against tyranids - resulting in other groups like D99).

Mechabellum is a great game. East ti learn, hard to master. Its not a rock, paper scissor type of game. A specific unit does not always defeat another specific unit.

Genuinely I really enjoyed Frostpunk 2, it took a very different almost-grand-strategy direction and I enjoyed it. Right before playing Frostpunk 2 I finally sat down and locked in and managed to beat the first one and all its extra content, and I truly ended up enjoying Frostpunk 2 better, perhaps it was just luck on my end perhaps. Frostpunk 2 has a issues that I want fixed (namely performance and useless complexities such as frostbreaking), but I don't think the game is as poorly designed as you make it out to be. Whilst you are 100% allowed to hate it for any reason you find fit, I do find the rant a bit unfair, as the things you mentioned I didn't encounter in the same way. The Fervour mechanic I wasn't aware of either, but I inferred that the fist icons above the factions was bad. Where my experience branches off from yours however was when the riots began I did actually get a bit of text under the demands section that told me I had 40 weeks to research the tech the rioters were demanding, I then looked at the research time for the tech and discovered that I couldn't research them in time, so I built more laboratories and used the "hard-deadlines" button thingy in order to speed up the research. I feel like those steps of thought should be up to the player to figure out, not for the developers to make more streamlined, I personally enjoyed the process I was forced to do there. Again, you are completely valid here not enjoying the game, I just wanted to give my side of the fence here on the aspects you mentioned
@KamahkazeАй бұрын
All valid, and honestly it's been like a week and I've cooled down a bit. I don't think it's a bad game per say it just wasn't really what I wanted from a frostpunk sequel

I can see where you are coming from, I finished the game and really, gotta say it was pretty pretty... underwhelming, especially the end game... I actually had the opposite problem from yours funny enough, I was too good... But I didn't feel rewarding. In the first one I was fighting for my life, every minute, 15 people getting sick could mean no coal, which in turn would mean no generator, and no generator would mean my ass freezing to death. It was a perfect mix of being brutal and rewarding, that shit made my hands sweaty, heart drumming, and I probably lost a month of my life from the sheer stress, and I would do it all again... This time, it just feels like a city builder sim, that is probably why I did so good, I was used to old hard mode frostpunk, so I micromanaged and paused the living shit out of this game... But after getting all green stats, I noticed it all felt more like a task; There was no risk, no life on the line, the perfect description to that feeling, was that in old frostpunk, 200 people dying was fucking devastating in early game, and I felt each death like a punch... now for a mistake i did, 7.000 or so citizens died in end game, and I felt nothing. It was just another number; Another stat I had to pump back to green. Honestly what I hated the most, is that they flipped probably the best quality of the first one, that being. "No time to lose, do what it takes" Every second counted and you were rewarded for being a good "Steward" Even if it came at the cost of your soul... Now playing this game I feel there are so many of those "Bullshit timers" Everywhere I look, is annoying. Can't do this, you lack heatstamps/ can't build here, frostbreak first (An absolutely useless mechanic btw)/ Can't talk to this faction now, try again in **20** weeks.... that together with how much this game handholds you trough the campaign, the first game judges you like an disappointed father at each choice you made to survive, that is your history, the choices you made to survive... meanwhile this one is like Morpheus giving you 2 pills to choose, go frost or go oil. And that is pretty much the extent of your power, choosing the 2 paths already laid to you.... Fuck man, this game could have been so much more, I am so disappointed... Sorry for the rambling. bye.
