I watch this interesting video and the one thought that springs to mind about the Fender guitar design is, I wonder how many people on this planet owe a thanks to Leo for a job they have due to his design, I mean this is a global business started by one man and an idea. The USA, huh, you got to love it.

sold my sb-2 bass as the jazz pickup, supposedly an MFD, wasnt hum bucking. I suppose I bought into the marketing of the Zcoils and got fooled.

Can these guitars handle metal well? Can’t find a single demo of one with higher gain

We’ll have to come back with a metal demo. The pickups with coils in series mode can rage. They’re tamed just enough we can pull out the chime in parallel and single coil modes.

Got this one some months ago to play at home and also to play at church. It's just so comfortable and it has an amazing sound. The pickup is monstrous. Very stilish, soft and versatile bass. I feel it's a bass made mostly for genres like jazz, blues, soft rock, gospel, and similar music, not really for hard rock or metal, but you could still use it for everything without a problem.

Way to recognize a great song, then not try to imitate. As a true MTB fan: great swing by drummer Standout, keys take on a more jazz sound band always had, guitarist makes it his own along with vocalist. Killed it guys. Keep it up!! 10 out of 10.

: 1:10 but you were earthing the strings no? Earthing/muting strings by skin contact is another essential way to reduce pickup hiss on a strat-like guitar.

I ❤ my 🇺🇲 strat and looking for a telecaster. Well I ❤ the professional 2 telecaster but for $2000 ....I decided to check out G&L, because Fender has become too corporate ‼️ Yesterday I checked out the Fullerton ASAT ( single coils in bridge and neck), this guitar is definitely built better than the Fender, lighter, and seems like an Ibanez AZS Prestige and Fender telecaster and the G&L has definitely a thicker tone. I got a tribute blues boy coming to me, bought online....

One trick with MFD pickups, bass or guitar, is that often by rolling back the volume 5-10% the instrument will regain the Fender flavor. My SB-2 can sound like an LB-100 but also does so much more when needed.

I have this setup in a custom built guitar with 2 p90s, plus a mids cut switch. There isn't a tone I can't get. And it's like playing through a compressor with some settings.

Worked for Leo in 63-66 at the Acoustic plant and was the 3/4 guy hired after Phil Kubicki. Got 3 of my Colorado buddies jobs there also. Roger Rossmeisl was our boss and Leo was intrigued with how acoustics were built. I built the tops and backs, bracing, inlays etc. and delivered guitars to Santa Ana every week. Sometimes 10 to 15 boxed and tied down in the back end of our 1963 ford pickup. One particular week several flew off the back end and Roger was going to fire the old guy who strapped them down, but recanted. Roger would ask me to stop by the store to get a couple of bottles of gluten free booze and when I got back would tell me to come into his office and shut the door, which I did. He would pour himself a stiff one and tell me I couldn't have one because I was working. What a lot of fun we had until CBS installed the union. Phil and the Colorado guys became good friends and I sometimes wonder where I would be if I'd stayed. Of course, Roger and Phil built many famous guitars for Hendricks, Beattles, etc. while there. thanks
