This is incorrect, such locations is all over the Ukraine, Russia, and entirely post soviet era locations. These stops usually have maximum of 5 minutes stops, even more 1 minute, it usually located far away from mega-city's, and large centers, mostly offered as convincing for people that located away from city's. Here is small example: I have leaving in my childhoods 30km from large city and 40km from another large city, where trains go in between. I have travel both ways, and train stops here and there for different reasons, one of them is changing lines, as in some places it was only one line, and you where need to stop for a 3-10 minute to let other trains to pass in another direction, meanwhile people's get used to jump on and off trains as courtesy of conductors, there is no way in these waiting locations would anyone build anything. Also same situation with old and even concrete platforms, it just that in order to get inside train you have to use 3 stems stair, to get from bottom ladder steps to top steps, where there train floors. Just to get to first step you have to use something like bucket, some small villages or far cities have platform at the bottom.step or lower, you still need to go up, unless platform is lifted off the bottom of trucks about 1 meter, or even more. They are actually in so small village, and I bet money, as soon as you leave city first station could have this type of boarding. In Ukraine more then probably 30% of all - 1492 railway stations have same issues, also train is stop like you said in the middle of nowhere, unfortunately.
