Music by Bernard Herrmann. The whistling, at least when accompanied by music, was done by Gareth Williams

This film is an 'action movie', where all the action is in the dialogues.

I just showed this film to my father, and upon watching this ending scene he remarked: "And for that moment, on the cab ride home, he's aware. But then as soon as he begins talking ABOUT the dinner with his wife, he's already a layer removed, back in the dream world."

My favorite part of this clip is Adam’s love for Benji. He was so put off by the whole wife thing, then a kid comes and he is even more threatened, because to him, a wife and kid is the very thing he has been expected to have by his family. Kids are the burdens of those gay men being forced back into the closet, and Adam is afraid he is about to lose someone close because that person will want to be a “good father” even if it means not being himself. But the moment Benji asks Adam, “Does my dad have a boyfriend?” And Adam’s face genuinely changes to paying attention to this child, and he realizes this kid loves his drag queen gay father, and wants to be a part of his including and especially the ABBA part. It’s so sweet to see an adult let down their walls for a child. You see a light in them that they didn’t have before. This is even more remarkable when you remember that Adam as a child almost was molested but he is a wise little bugger.

A hard song to sing. The string introduction deserves to be its own composition. Obviously the vocal falls short. Whoever mixed it put the strings up to compete with the vocal. He has to scream out his high notes but you can also learn from a "bad" performance. One of the great songs of the last century. It is part nursery rhyme and part opera with an incredible harmonic palette.

They had to keep that kid hidden till near the end of the film or he would have stolen the whole thing. What an angel.

I think the reason he notices the waiter looking at him is because many people ignore the waiters and other stewards or people in general in big places such as resturants. Although, another lonely soul such as wallace meets in contact another lonely soul (the waiter) and he really sees him for the first time, but thinks its weird because of his adaptation to the social system.

Guess it's a possibility, the waiter's role surely is crucial

its amazing how Billy Wilder directed/wrote this scene, the way they say "I do" standing over the dead bodies of their father/mother (who were lovers), foreshadowing how these will kinda go down the same path

Suddenly I'm a Janitor sweeping the detritus from the old Bus station waiting area floor. The smell of pine disinfectant and my tipless cigarette. My Shiny brylcreamed hair atop my sixty year old Boomers head,I finish up the ablutions and head to the Tavern on Boscombe street and drink some ale and a couple of Whiskey chasers then I walk home the mist glowing in the bluey sodium street lights. The Bittern locomotive races across the bridge sending a shower of red sparks from it's angry chimney.
