In the cockpit, one of the greatest dividends of experience is knowing when it’s ok to fly through the storm. Sometimes it’s better than going round it - because it’s not as bad as it looks. At 35,000 feet, the storm takes the form of cumulo-nimbus clouds but in other industries the storm is the unique obstacle in your way. In today’s world, there are many skills transferable from aviation and I relish the chance to share my knowledge and experience with other industries, exploring the parallels between aviation and business, as well as with pilots-in-training in the cockpit. Across all spheres, I’m a big advocate of safety leadership: a new discipline to study persistent beliefs and workplace patterns, and apply critical thinking to empower people and strengthen systems.
I use media to help convey messages. I shoot and edit tutorials for online learning and I am a tech-savvy live broadcaster.
