There is a style of contemporary classical music that tries to recreate, say, a trombone Eb using other different musical instruments (not tuning forks, but close) and this is known as spectralism.

A wonderful video in many ways: simplified, yes, but not dumbed down; the visuals contributed to the story-telling and were not mere afterthoughts; the video notes are comprehensive and not cursory. Thanks to the film-makers and of course to Asoc. Prof. Hajek for sharing herself and her work. Very interesting.
