Bought one. The right channel has a terrible rhythmic white noise on the drums. Turn the drums down and it's there. Until you click them off, then it fades out. Plus, the loop side has no volume. All the way up, and the drums will drown it out at 9 db. I guess it makes sense, since they are quite inexpensive. Mines probably going back.

Nice amp, if you avoid (too much) power amp sagging and bass fuzz, as it is wired quite hot, so it is no "everything at ten amp". But you can also solve these problems with some modding easily. Nevertheless, the 5W are too loud for any home use without additional attenuation or load box use. Rather a smaller gigging amp. What I personally miss is Master and a negative feedback loop, as this also is an essential part of a typical Plexi sound, without it the sound is rougher, dirtier, which some players will like, other not and maybe also a Low Input.

Yeh - definitely too loud to use at home without annoying the neighbours! 🤣

Example 1 the tube absolutely pwned. The solid state sounded thin and harsh. It could just need eq adjustments though.

Plug into something well made using good tubes, you'll hear and feel the difference.

It only makes a difference if pushed outside of its linearity region, that is at highest volume levels. People say AC/DC do that but no one needs to.
@xavierandradev15 күн бұрын
It is a meaningless comparison if the speakers are different. Especially between a guitar speaker, that colors the sound by design, and a keyboard speaker that tries to have a flat response and a wide frequency range.
@ashleyguitarandpedals15 күн бұрын
It’s definitely a huge factor in the difference in sound 👍
@jullev670915 күн бұрын
I have a vox straight 6 pedal and the difference and quality Is HUGE when used in front of a solid state amp. Both clean and distorted, specially the dynamics are pushed much wider and the ability to clean up the sound by rolling off the volume knob. The attack Is also sharper.
@ashleyguitarandpedals15 күн бұрын
By that do you mean that it’s better into a solid state or valve amp?
@thewilythylacine16 күн бұрын
Exactly. Wants vs. needs. Claiming “rip-off” when it comes to a “want” is either clickbait or a supreme expression of entitlement,nothing more.

Capitalist society or not- a discussion around fair prices is 100% legit. It’s especially important that consumers actually know what they’re paying for. The workings of pedals are not that well known to consumers. Is a pedal expensive because of high level craftmansship and components, or is it expensive just because of a cool logotype? Questioning overprized products is part of the capitalist idea of competition.

My friend plays in a band that mainly performs in pubs. He plays a Harley Benton PRS kit guitar which he made himself. It sounds great and, really, do the punters in a pub know or care whether his guitar is a HB or a PRS? No.

Excellent video on the topic. What blew me away aside from Josh's professionalism was how ride John really was with the video. And then he deleted the original and the follow up videos after Josh replied. I enjoyed John's videos but he essentially tried to sweep it under the rug like he didn't try to deal a blow to JHS and people's livelihoods

☝🏾Great ,..useful advice for these types of Loopers! Use it in Stereo for backing Chord work! Record your lines, counter melodies & various parts on separate takes with recording on Left or Right inputs but have the unit in Stereo mode. Play a REAL Bass or Synth Bass loud enough to balance /mix well w/Drum Track later! Layer in each take volume level -wise to have “depth” & dynamics in your Loop Sessions! (This is Killer for live gigging!) You’ll enjoy the playback jam sessions immensely👍🏾😁! Try this for whatever Genre!!..and have a great , fun time with your Donner Looper or whichever you have similar..🤘🏾😎🎛️🎸✨

This is an early Silver Series Squier Strat probably from 1991 or 1992. These were meant to be a step up in quality after Fender had almost trashed the brand in Korea in the late 80s. If you want a truly great Japanese Squier get a JV- or SQ-Series model, which were made about ten years earlier.

The pedal market is fairly decentralized, if you don't wanna spend $$$ on JHS, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives.

I’ve got an “E5” series 1985 Squier Strat “contemporary “ model. White, no pickguard, rear loaded, standard trem, HSS with 3 mini toggles for the pickups instead of a 5-way switch. I bought it in Aug or Sept of 1986. When I bought it, it was discontinued, store was getting rid of it. Paid $313 with hard case. Still play it, though I’ve customized it over the years. The stock pickups were weak, replaced with Seymour Duncans. It took on water in Hurricane Katrina and had to be rewired at which point I added a 3way switch for neck and middle, and left one toggle for the middle pickup. Still plays great, though it isn’t what I’d call a great “gigging” guitar. Stock tuners are a little finicky. But it works for me.

I picked up a 1983 MIJ Squier strat when they came out, and it is a fantastic guitar. I have gigged with it for over 40 years and have never had to make any mods or adjustments, other than basic maintenance. I've played a lot of strats over the years and mine holds up to any of the ones I've played. One surprising aspect is how well it stays in tune even whe using the tremolo. Fabulous craftsmanship.

Funny, I was just thinking this very same thing this afternoon. I had watched both John's and JHS' videos yesterday and so it was on my mind today. And I came to a similar conclusion. Gas companies rip us off. Insurance companies. The price of insulin can be a rip off. Those are all things we need to "survive". We need gas to get to work to make a living. Some people need insulin to even live. Like you said. No one "needs" a guitar pedal. Plus...no one is forcing people to buy the JHS pedals. There are pedals on Amazon made in China for $14. If you don't want to pay over $150 for a guitar pedal, there are options. So to say that JHS is ripping people off is pretty ludacris. Not to mention. JHS are made in the USA, using some USA made components. That immediately drives up the cost. Also, why didn't John pick on companies like Boss? Their pedals are made in China, Japan and Taiwan. The Boss OD-3 is almost $100.

Absolutely 👍 It’s also a really nasty choice of words to describe what seems like a good bunch of people being creative and educating people along the way!
@kelleywhite5761Ай бұрын
Cordy was not asking an innocent question like a lot of people are inferring, he was casting aspersions on pedal producers and JHS in particular straight up. All he done was to show his total ignorance on how business is conducted, the cost involved and the effort that goes into running such a concern, the way Josh broke it done definitely educated Cordy and a lot of other clueless guitar players.

I don't think it's a rip off. I can buy pedals for fifteen dollars to thousands. For me to build a pedal it costs about the same as jhs to build.

What the dude still didn't understand in his apology was, what is intellectual property worth? It is worth what others value it at... IE how much you're willing to pay for their creation. How much to produce a Picasso? said nobody, ever.
