i definitely agree on your thoughts on the movie- the visuals and outfits and side characters are amazing to me, but tilly falls short! i think hollywood had an issue with thinking that a more reserved and if few words woman like tilly isn’t interesting enough for a film. i think the way they painted her as vengeful and confident and kind of sultry is much less interesting and makes her character more shallow. great review!!

Your new haircut looks great! 😊 I started cutting my own hair too over the last few years, and it’s been a lot more convenient. I’ve heard of The Astonishing Color of After before, but not the premise, and it sounds like a really good story. I’m also hoping to read Code Name Verity in the future - it’s been on my shelf for a while and I started the audiobook, but wanted to read the rest in print.

I love how all of your TBR books are diverse! I'm especially intrigued to read My Father's Shadow as well. I finally am starting my summer break and I want to be mindful of the places I go to and focus more on reading at home when I'm not going anywhere...but I foresee the rest of Japan not doing their part as the cases are rising everyday here. yikes. How is Australia?
@printedwordsand
@printedwordsand 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm really hoping I get through them considering I haven't read anything in about 4 weeks hahah oops ah no hopefully Japan doesn't get worse :( other states in Australia have been okay but where I'm at we're now in Stage 4 Restrictions because cases and deaths increased drastically. I'm hoping we do the right thing this time so things get better.

CORRECTION - "The Year the Maps Changed" includes the story of a Kosovar-Albanian refugee group, not Vietnamese refugee. I was very much confused and feel terribly bad about getting the premise the wrong in the video. I am so sorry!!

Okay so I finally finished the book and I have no one to talk to about this one question I keep having and can't find an answer online and I would like to get an idea from someone else. Do you think it was purposeful for Suzanne Collins to make the national anthem of Panem different in "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" than what it was in the "Hunger Games" movies? (and yes I know they never mentioned the national anthem at all in the books until "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes")
@printedwordsand
@printedwordsand 4 жыл бұрын
omg WHAT i had no clue that was a thing?? clearly i didn't pay attention enough. Also, idk if Suzanne Collins would've had any say for the movies so maybe she disregarded that when she wrote The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Do you think it's significant to the plot though?
