Rob here, I ran into you as you were heading into transition race morning and I was on my way back to my hotel. Congratulations on a job well done!! It was quite a day. I didn't make it into your video, but my name did. I'm on the finisher board at minute 11:05! My race didn't go quite as planned. I hit a cone and crashed 7 miles into the ride. Needless to say, that made my day a little more painful, but I got it done. And I agree, that run down the finisher shoot is about as emotional as it can get.

@@RobS-fu9hj ROB, really appreciated the conversation the morning of, really nice to have someone else to speak with braving the day we headed into together. And I had to go back and watch and see your name, that means we must’ve been near each other at least at some point, and MAN that is terrible to hear, I wonder if you were one of the bloodied finishers I heard others speaking of, I knew some others took some crashes, I’m glad you got back up and were able to continue on, those cones were not consistent at points, I had to do a major swivel to get out of one’s way on the highway and with it being slick, a small adjustment like that is terrifying. Definitely glad you came out the other side and are able to say you had the finish you deserved 🙌

just finished my official 3rd week and the mental fatigue of learning a new role and the math behind it with little sleep and learning a new routine has definitely been a very tough transition for me. luckily I started the taper weeks the same time as the new job so I did have 'more' time of rest and recovery. I'll be in Chattanooga with you for my first attempt at an Ironman, as well, so I can't say what it takes to get through one at this point. But, I'm not sure going almost 4 weeks without a swim is a good idea. Swim fitness isn't the same as run or bike fitness. I'd want to at least do a once a week swim to maintain what I've done to date. Just a thought. Good luck either way!!

Is there a reason for the order that you do your workouts in? As in running before/after biking or lifting
@geoffreyruns
@geoffreyruns 2 ай бұрын
definitely a reason! whenever I have a weights workout I need to do, I always do weights first. I want my power/effort to be the strongest when breaking down and building muscle. and then any endurance activity will come after to 'empty' the tank. it's way easier for me to do weights before any cardio than after.

As someone who wants to try a triathlon and perhaps an ironmam someday, what is a beginner bicycle you would recommend? Of course something reasonable and hopefully cheap?
@geoffreyruns
@geoffreyruns 3 ай бұрын
great question! I got my current bike from BikesDirect.com // fantastic website with great prices on great bikes. most bikes are a year or two older models so they are at discount. I got my diamondback century endurance sport for $600, originally $1,200 // they have other cheaper bikes on there that are just as good. I average 17/18mph with my bike, i upgraded the seat and tires ($150 or so) but I'd try to find a road bike, an endurance bike version of it, you can search many on there in your price range, then look up KZbin videos of reviews of that specific model.

@bradtomlinson8252 3 ай бұрын
@@geoffreyruns I generally take my own nutrition but they have plenty of aid stations. With this distance it's ok to stop at the stations and refill bottles, use the restroom and whatever else. Your goal is to finish the 1st one and learn. If I could give you one piece of advice right now it would be to ride the bike more and do some intensity workouts on your shorter trainer rides. You're a good runner but your run is no good if the bike kills you. On Sundays I do a 3 hour ride with an hour run OTB. Also try and get in some open water swims.
