“It’s is generally acknowledged that the profits deriving from the slave system can be far greater in comparison to the rest of the states where it has been used, in just the states of California and Texas alone in slave mining operations, and the region more hospitable to the plantation system than others” another quote from a southern politician states “ it will our lot, as I assume it will, if Texas is annexed, that the question of property at hand, will increase by 30%, and may act as a relief faucet for the southern states over abundant slave populations” With such open statements made across the southern states for Texas to be annexed, the northern states opposed Texas and pointed out that every arguement made to defend Texas could not be held in a serious conversation, and many are facts claimed by no one except themselves, and the very nature of Texas annexation would violate the constitution, the many compromises and agreements between the north and south, and would be and act of conquest. They wanted no part in Texas or what they saw as still Spanish territory, they said for the south to keep “hands off” of that territory. In that perspective, it was simply a southern rebellion for the expansion of their slave system against the Missouri compromise and constitution that established the balance of powers between free and slave states, if Texas was acquired it would have put the balance in favor of the slaves states, even worse they predicted it could become 5 or 6 slave states, greatly impacting the balance of power.

What the "Victor’s History" doesn’t want you to know about Abraham Lincoln: As a lawyer, Abraham Lincoln was the highest paid corporate attorney in America and a lobbyist for the railroad industry. (He was chief council for the New York Central Railroad; then the largest corporation in the world). His 3-point advocacy for (1) “INTERNAL IMPROVEMENTS” (massive government funded works projects that would be undertaken by large Northern Industrial corporations), (2) a “HIGH TARIFF” (to protect these corporations from foreign competition) and, (3) his advocacy for a “NATIONAL BANK” (a bank run by politicians that could inflate the currency to fund these projects and what Jefferson had earlier condemned as “the perfect engine of corruption”) , are what propelled Lincoln from a local politician into the presidency by this cabal of northern industrial and banking interests. Not surprisingly, his cabinet included Wm. Chase (Chase Bank), and the president of U.S. Steel. The Southern States which were the main consumers of imported steel agricultural products bore the burden of these tariffs (up to 48%). Called by the South the “Tariff of Abominations”, it effectively resulted in a massive transfer of wealth from the agricultural South to the Industrial North and was a leading cause of the secession of the Southern States from the Union. As a new country constitutionally formed by “the people of the SOVERIGN states”, the Confederacy sought to maintain ports of free trade. This would have caused a loud sucking sound as trade from foreign nations would leave high tariff northern ports for the free ports of the South to discharge their cargoes. Lincoln had said that the ONLY reason he would go to war was to “collect the imposts (tariffs)” so central to his agenda. Accordingly, Lincoln denied the right of secession upon which our independence in 1776 was founded when we seceded from the British Union, referring to the peaceful constitutional ”States Right” to secede as “insurrection”.

What a bombastic nationalistic lecture. So the defeat of the Armada is indirectly responsible for the creation of the US? I thought the aid of the French and Spanish to the Continental Congress was more decisive for the defeat of the Brits.

Excellent talk! A small correction: Switzerland taxes are less than in the USA and Switzerland does not have free health care or any "socialist" programs with the exception of subsidized higher education. I think you are confusing Switzerland with Sweden. A common American mistake.

Rick, excellent commentary on uninformed American attitudes towards other peoples, and on what the American government has inflicted on countries for decades. After living for two decades in Europe, I returned to the USA. I attempted to explain many of your same points to Americans I met. The reaction I received ranged from "You are un American" to " You are a liar" to "You are a traitor". Thank you for attempting to get the point across. You are lucky you were not strung up on the nearest redneck hangman's tree.

Dr.Thanos is fitting What a total quack 🦆 he celebrates the death of a Billion people And another bit of irony is Doc Death sipping from a Plastic Bottle that’s destroying the earth 🌍 😂😂😂 He’s talking about viruses at the end what an evil being

If he's a quack, then what does that make you? A worm? He is NOT celebrating the death of anyone; he is upset and is making statements he doesn't mean in anger. What he was talking about was the death of ecology in Africa and how it is tangibly linked to infectious disease outbreaks... particularly Ebola. When he says he wants the death 90% of the human pop. what he is really saying is that if we don't stop killing the ecology and biology that maintains us, Nature will do its own depopulation. 90% of the population dying is probably better 100% right? You really think a man that loves Nature and living things actually wants the death of anything or anyone?

Jeanette, you said you wouldn’t have included as much swearing had you know so many kids would read it. I don’t swear much, and my parents didn’t either, but one of the things I enjoyed about your book was that the swear words were so authentic. If my father did swear he used the same words your father swear did. We are the same age. The words in your book are different that the swear words used nowadays.

Read your Bible, Rick! Judea and Samaria are mentioned there. We get the word Jew from Judea. Islam began in the 7th Century . Ancient Israel existed long, long before that. Jews are not planted there. We have been there for many centuries. Be careful. Don't believe propaganda. Many of those planted are Arabs who come originally from many countries. Palestine is a word invented by the Romans as they ousted Jews from that region. British showed the Jewish Star when they referred to Palestine. Please , do your homework. You are sadly misinformed about Israel. Who by the way promotes civil rights of all people. They are the very first to respond to natural disasters in any country. And no Arab child who needed medical care is ever turned away. Can you say the say for Arab countries? Absolutely not. And Israel is the only democracy in the region where Jews and Arabs serve together in the Knesset! Please, stop spreading false information. Traveling should make you wiser!

From a very general perspective, sadly, ignorance is bliss, but certainly not helpful to anyone. Global travel is a really wonderful thing & does help to open our minds & hearts to all humans across our planet and it helps to enlighten us & to broaden our perspectives and much more. Personally, yes i have travelled & i do believe it's helped me to grow into a much better person. A more open minded, respectful & understanding person. For me, it's truly a win/win.
