i don't understand people's obsession with open water.... in my fish tanks they are all floating plants and the more floating plants i have the less algae i have. i have rotting leaves in my fish tanks on purpose because that feeds the fish. this having no life in the pond just so people don't have algae confuses me. just have some floating plants and fish. circle of life. no struggle bussing the answer as having nothing to feed any life in a pond... no leaves, no life, dead boring water.

The water should not go lower than the bottom basin. Pump speed is way to fast,,,then slow daon down and fine tune water falls with leveling each level,if needed,Vaseline on channels to make falls all even.food luck.this will reduce splash 95%.

What did you do to the basin to allow it to hold the weight of the fountain itself? That is like one of the most important parts of this project.
@PutsPonds
@PutsPonds 2 ай бұрын
Good question… the answer is, nothing. The AquaBasin is strong enough to support the weight of the fountain. It is molded with several supports inside.

I am in the process of building a very similar waterfall, (Pond is a normal size that I already have built) but what pump and plumbing did you use for the project? I would love to hear your thoughts on what GPH was needed to get a great flow like that. Thanks!

i purchased the backyard pondless waterfall kit with the acqua basin 45. i have just begun to install, but am wondering if you need to use a screen on top of the basin to keep debris out, i am concerned with leaves. i have a high amount of leaves in the fall, will a screen help or not really? i was looking at ¼" screen fencing to lay on top of the basin before i place the river rocks on it. BY THE WAY, I AM NEAR YOU IN SHELBY TOWNSHIP

My pondless waterfall looks almost exactly like this one, not only in size but also the landscaping around it. My question is this: How do I get rid of the green algae that has formed on the small rocks along the stream. My water is clear and I have very little debris of any sort that I can see, maybe a few leaves every now and then which I blow away with my leaf blower. Is there something I should be adding to the water?
@PutsPonds

Try adding some aquatic plants to compete with algae… even impatiens flowers will grow in the stream, plus add a pop of color

I don’t have the skills for all that, I’m just trying to seal the original basin from leaking. I tried some foam spray I was using for another project, but it’s still leaking. I guess the foam wasn’t the way to go. I’ll have to chip it all out and try something else.

4’ deep won’t it freeze out the fish in MI? I know in Minnesota it will
@PutsPonds
@PutsPonds Жыл бұрын
The surface will freeze. But here in Michigan most backyard ponds only experience a couple inches of ice. That’s why it’s important to use aeration as well as a floating heater (deicer) when needed during the winter.

What does that cost average per month?
@PutsPonds
@PutsPonds Жыл бұрын
We recommend just an aerator throughout the winter and only a 300 watt heater only if needed. Not the typical 1250 watt cattle trough heaters that costs $80 a month. The Aquascape 300 watt deicer with a temperature sensor on it, typically $20 per month

You build some beautiful ponds! Can you provide some tips on how to add plants to a contemporary concrete rectangle Koi pond. Specifically, how do you protect the plants from the Koi eating them, but still get the plant filtration.
@mplsjeffm

during the summer, you do not clean the water pump at all? That would necessitate not having any type of foam filter on the pump, is that correct? I currently have a small pond, and I am looking to shrink it, or go to complete pod less functionality just because the pond gets green and smells, but apparently the same thing happens with this set up. 0:07
@PutsPonds
@PutsPonds Жыл бұрын
Our pumps are solid handling and are inside a pump vault. We rarely use pumps that have foam filters, but when we do we remove the foam filter because they clog to quickly.

So im on five acres and 20 years back my dad dug a big hole in the ground. It's about 30 x 30 ( maybe 8 feet deep definitely deeperwhen it floods). He said it would help with the flooding and be a extra water source for the cows we had at the time. Cows are gone and we still have really bad flooding. I don't think we actually ever had seen that hole ever dry up. Any how I've noticed from the pass 10 years we have had ducks and other birds stay a bit and take off from seasons. I would like to naturally clean up the water there and expand it for the migrating birds . My question is would any of the products mentioned hurt my dogs or natural animals? Also is it possible for the hole have fish in it?
