The problem is where are you going to find the option to upgrade the AP5 to a pro for only $100? You certainly can’t here in the states.

I think the microphone being "weak" is possibly a misunderstanding about how this pickup works. On the AP5 pro, the mic was never intended to be used by itself. It has a band pass filter on it that cuts out the low end to help cut back on feedback on stage. That's somewhat different from other blend systems, which is why it might be confusing and not what you were expecting. The idea though is you get the piezo roughly right to give you your volume, then dial in a bit of microphone to restore some of the natural tone of the guitar.

My Maton EM-6 uses the original AP5 pickup. When I connected to the amp, there was a hum noise, and when I touched the connection jack, the noise disappeared. My amp is completely normal when connected to other guitars. I sent the product to Maton, but the company said it was normal, so the company is not responsible for warranty. The hum noise from the pick-up made me uncomfortable when I was performing live. I looked into the internery to find a way to overcome it myself and found that there were many people who were in similar situations to me. They taught me to overcome the following: “My problem was ground problem. Some power sockets had no proper wiring or no pro ground, and that's why I had this problem. So, get your own ground fault tester and check power sockets. If that is all OK, then you can try tightening or losening the screws at the bridge pick.” Does this affect the sound of the pickup? I'm worried about your reply. Sorry, I use Google Translation.

A hum through the amp is a ground problem. Confirmed by your touching the Jack. You need to run a multi-meter over all the connections to see where the Earth leak is from. Sorry to not be more help.

AP5 pro is made to be played with all full. Piezo all the way up + mic all the way up. Buy a soundhole cover. With this suggestion I guarantee you won’t be disappointed at all. The upgrade is massive. 👍🏼

Depends on style of playing! If you strum with a pick it sounds horrendous having the mic all the way up. Strumming sounds better with mic at 25% ,piezo on full

Big Improvement Richard. Most of these have Chinese pickups, however better pickups are made in Korea to original specifications including wax coated wire etc
