I miss this game every day. I played it so much as a teen. It was beautiful graphically yet ran perfectly on my toaster of a PC. I think of Hawken every time I play of MechWarrior and Armored Core 6.

It was sweaty but in a fun way. The game encouraged you to always fight your best but you didn't feel bad when you lost or died as you might in SBMM games today. Nor did you feel helpless like in MechWarrior Online that encourages ganking because weapons are so weak and matchmade teams so uncoordinated.

One of the most historic game trailers every and it was more or less cold-launched. People still come back to this and reminisce about how nothing has ever come close to this uniqueness. The tragic downfall almost immediately after launch is just as legendary.

I used to set up amushes in the gamemode about capturing missile sites. I used to place a lot of mines where the enemies used to stay to capture the points and hide nearby for a full burst combo. So fun and annoying
