looking for a recipe for Kreplok. ````n`not sure of spelling or pronunciation. They seemed to be Jewish pierogi or ravioli. Maybe you know. Grandmother would make them a long time go. Thanks.

I took your advice and put the glass purex dish in the oven and heated it up and once I put the room temperature potato/onion/egg mix in to the screaming hot dish, the dish exploded! I repeated the process, just not with preheating the dish and so far, so good.

Yes, I must take it upon myself to make a kugel. It would be my first attempt and hopefully there is some leeway as far as mistakes go.

I know this was a long time ago, biut a very handy recipe for a non-jewish australian who happens to love potato dishes. Maybe it's the Irish in me, maybe it's just potatoes.

Made this Kugel ten times and everyone loves it, thank you from The Zaidy who knows nothing. My one issue is the Pyrex pan, it has literally exploded on me three times. What do I need to know about Pyrex” ?

I, myself, am not Jewish but I love Jewish culture and food. I'm definitely going to try this. Question: Can you use a different type of fish for this?

12 yrs since this was published & insect inspection on vegetables have changed in the US & Israel. It isn't a quick peel of the onion and wash off but breaking down the onion into its individual layers soaking in soapy water, washing off and checking to see if there is anything clinging to the onion layer. Yes, there are live insects & worms that I've seen in on an onion layer that I've peeled.

I did not see you remove the parchment paper. When does that get removed and I assume you simmer covered? Thanks I know this is a very old video but it looks delicious and I have leftover frozen GF rolls from Pesach I want to use up.

Okay Jamie here’s my question: If I were to boil the potatoes so they become soft and then mash them and then add all the ingredients and bake it, what will the end result be?

Why didn't you remove the "eyes" from the potatoes? Easy to do with the end of your peeler.

It does look gorgeous. I see that you recorded it in America. Will you redo it here, in Israel? Because here, before stuffing your peppers, you will need to soak them in soapy water for 3 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. WORMS! See Rabbi Vaye's sefer "Bdikas HaMazon".

Thanks for sharing. Just wondering what potatoes are best for kugel. In Europe potatoes are better. Here in us i can't find which ones taste better. And i don't use oil , we use cup of very hot milk and bake with bacon and onion mix.

but- getting back to the kugel. WHY is it swimming in oil?? Oy vey.
@unclelouie38282 жыл бұрын
Rinse the onion for "kosher reasons?" NO. You just "rinse it" period. I'm Jewish. I had a 'kosher restaurant'. Let me tell you what this kosher 'b'shyt' is all about. The worst junk food you can buy has a kosher stamp on it. A "kosher" stamp on food means absolutely nothing but someone getting 'paid off'. Anything "fresh", vegetables, fruit, olive oil etc. -whole real food is kosher. This "kosher stamp" on labels of most processed foods is a joke.
