The Hopfather It’s not racing, really. Just going out there on the track w/ other dudes; there’s a passing protocol and you’re supposed to maintain some decent separation. Collision is pretty rare. Bigger risk is mechanical failure driving off track b/c of user error. One of these (“Off” in the title) is me driving off track. Even that is pretty low risk. Still, they sell “Track day insurance” and I’m too big of a wuss to not have it (so far, anyway).

Grant C. Good question. Took me awhile to come up with a spot, but I have it suctioned to the bottom side of the moonroof, dead center, as far back as it will go, framed so that the tips of the mirrors are at the left and right edges of the shot, and then dropped down using 4-5 GoPro brackets to get it ear level and get the mirror out of the shot and try to get as much of the tach as possible. I’m still experimenting with it, but it could stand to go another bracket or two lower. At that point, though, I would worry about it swaying too much for the stabilization to correct (even where it is in the video, you can see it moving around a bit). My next track day, though will be down a little further just to see.
