Thirteen years ago KZbin asked me if I wanted to see a video of someone named Glen "busking". I didn't know what busking meant so I clicked on it. Been a fan of Glen and Mic ever since. Just amazing. I get to see him on Aug 8th in Nashville and I can't wait.

This is the goofiest "recipe" for "black bean sauce" that I have ever seen. He is using real black beans not Chinese fermented black beans which are in fact soybeans. I'm still laughing.

Another tip for you guys, add a bit of hoisin to the sauce. Adds so much depth to the dish

hoisin sauce is made from fermented black beans.

Hoisin sauce ingredients: starches such as sweet potato, wheat or rice, and water, sugar, soybeans, sesame seeds, white distilled vinegar, salt, garlic, red chili peppers, and sometimes preservatives or coloring agents.

I make mine from fresh ingredients, rather than buy it in a jar - the main ingredients are fermented black beans, garlic and soy sauce. Much richer and tastier than anything I've bought in shops or been served in a restaurant. A lot of the online recipes say to make it with peanut butter, which is totally weird, but I assume they're Americans as they love their peanut butter.
