You start as with this one and then work on the rounds until the last round measure as your toddler's head ....it can be smaller as it will stretch........and then continue on the sides as normal in the tutorial

You can go from elbow to elbow and make a large square instead of rectangle so it will not fall of yoyr shoulders ....

I did the last two rows of the square shorter -2 -1 and it got slightly rounder, then when I did the L it was less pointy (but not by much)
