I would love if one of these medical HYF stories had a human character had a wider range of emotions than the typical nonchalant and indifferent attitude to the aliens weird behavior around them. The humans being more upfront to the point of the issue with the aliens misconceptions and why they fight against the thought that other species might be more informed to their own biology than beings that never meet them.

Stop with the 'quantum'. Find different words. You don't have to say, "quantum space slip," or their "quantum slip drive." Say "space slip" or, for example, "slip drive." Get creative. This constant use of 'quantum' is tedious and silly. Back in the early 20th Century, authors kept referring to new technology - "electric light," "electric bell," "electric torch (flashlight)." Don't fall into this trap. Find other words. "Quantum core." How about, "antimatter core?" "Hyperspace core?" Whoever came up with this interesting story surely has enough imagination to come up with words to replace 'quantum'.
