Graffiti thats known around the world is a foundational black American art form. There was nothing like Graffiti from hip hop before it. Hip hop has its own graffiti movement separate from anything that came before it. Just like art nouveau is different from cubism or abstract, because of the motivation behind the art. Black American youth who had their own story motives and expression that makes their Graffiti its own style. The Graffiti created in the 70s and 80s stands alone no different from expressionists. Hip Hop style graffiti is what's most globally recognized of any other graffiti art movements.

Super interesting. Claw is really cool. Not often you see a girl into this. Her claw tag looks super familar but I live in Melbourne so I doubt I've seen it here. I see a lot of ones like "Kret" in my area and I'd love to know who they are. Also the clean up guy needs to realise not all graffiti is gang related. He probably ought to watch this documentary. Even the part on himself lol. I hate it when people say tagging is ugly. I reckon it looks cool. Of course the big throw ups of graffiti artists names are my fav. I don't care much for mural, they are cool but different kind of art.
