Hi there! So just to confirm, for using timecode on something like my Lumix S5ii, I'd have to buy the TC1 and the PR-2 together? Cheers!
@Dano-Media21 күн бұрын
@@Q2Japan Hello! Yes, cameras don't have a very accurate timecode clock in them, so a timecode box like the TC1 is needed. Alternatively, the Deity PR2 can also be used as a timecode box. So if you have two of them but you're only using 1 lav, you can use the other PR2 on the camera as a timecode box. But the TC1 is smaller and cheaper. Cheers!

@Dano-Media26 күн бұрын
Yup! I fully switched from Tentacle to Deity. The only reason to stick to Tentacle is if you already have a lot of them which means you might lose a chunk of money if you sell them used and buy new Deity's. Other than that, there's nothing the tentacle can do that Deity can't.

Hi! Unfortunately I haven't used the Boss Micro BR recorder and don't know much about it, but, it does state on their website that they support MP3 & WAV formats: www.boss.info/us/products/micro_br/specifications/ However, I'm not sure if it supports the 32bit-float recording from the Deity/Tentacle. The best way to know is to try it or contact Boss directly.

@@Dano-Media did you use it in 100%? And thanks a lot for answering
@Dano-MediaАй бұрын
@@ferraz916 Don't mention it! No usually when I use it for interviews, it's around 30-50% because I use it as a backlight from a few meters away, too bright to use at 100%. But when I tested to see how long the NP-F batteries last, it was on for almost 1.5 hours on full brightness and didn't have overheating issues, the batteries died before the light got heated.
@johnsysaysАй бұрын
5:11 did you ever figure out an easy solution to this? I need a strong continuous light but if the adapter cant even hold it in place that is some frustrating nonsense
@Dano-MediaАй бұрын
I got around it by using a different spigot. The spigot it comes with has a rubbery material around the screw, I think that's what's causing the issue. Also, using a plier to tighten the spigot helped a lot too. Lastly, I figured if I was mounting the light overhead and leaving it there for a while, the battery wont last anyway. So I just reverted to connecting the light to a wall plug. The batteries are standard NP-F970's. They last for about 1 or 1.5 hours on full brightness

There's another reason why ''not'' to use a tube light close to your subject as a rim light, and it's when the subject will be moving and getting closer to the light, because of the ''Inverse Square Law''. For instance, if you are shooting a person sitting at the table, and you want to light it from above, simulating the ceiling light. If you use a tube light (or any low intensity light) just out of frame, it will work if the talent stays still, but if he gets just a few inches closer to the light source.. the light intensity will increase dramatically, and it will show that the light is very close and not on the ceiling. Same thing can happen if he moves away from the light source.. the intensity might decrease dramatically. In any case where there are movements and nobody to move the light so it stays a the same distance from the subject... it's better to have a stronger light positionned further away, to have more room before the light intensity gets ''unstable''. IMO, it's one of the most complicated factor about gaffing for low/zero budget short films.. especially in tight spaces, like an apartment. Using the proper light, at the proper distance, with the proper diffuser size to get the desired light quality and still get enough room to move around without getting hit by the Inverse Square Law.
@Dano-Media2 ай бұрын
Agreed! It also makes it easier to frame or re-frame the shot without having to worry about showing the rim light which is usually right outside of frame.
@davidmultimedia20242 ай бұрын
@@Dano-Media Exactly! You just have to adjust the brightness and size of diffusion (if any) accordingly, considering that the further away the light source, the bigger the diffuser has to be to maintain the same softness, and vive versa.

@@Dano-Media I'm sorry man, Please don't take my comment as a hate thing. I personally don't have much knowledge about grading, but speaking from the views of the general public with not much knowledge, the normal video without grading would appeal to a wider viewer base. The grading used in this video feels a bit like a yellow filter in screens to protect the eyes and does not feel color accurate. That is just my opinion so I could be wrong, Please forgive me if that is the case. If you can, try to enhance the video colors while keeping it looking closer to the original and a bit more appealing to normal eyes to catch their attention rather than making the colors a bit dull.
