Grande auto.

Thai Brides is definitely one of Louie’s best work. Lake Palmer “destroy them verbally” Ronnie Conrad feeding Louis soup, Lake on a date walking into the restaurant “pretty flowers, looks like jungle” how did we not get part 2 or at least some deleted scenes.

I bought one of these in '82 with 128k miles on it for £95. Rusty rear arches, natch, but it was a huge step up from my old Mini 850 at the time. It always started, and never seemed to use any oil..amazing. I once drove it from Gloucester, leaving at 3.30 am, and arriving home (south of Cardiff) at 4.35 am. That's over 70 miles! Was hitting 90 on the speedo at times down the A48 to Chepstow .... no speed cameras back then, of course. It eventually had to go (rust mainly) but I soon bought an identical one with lower mileage, which was followed soon after by a 124 Special T 1600 and then a 1969 124 Sport. I eventually ended up buying a Dino 2.4 coupe in '92, which was wonderful, and still the best car Fiat have ever made. But those 124's were all such great value and great fun. Incredible cars.

I remember Consumer Reports Mag LOVED this and the 128 in the early 70’s and promoted them enthusiastically………….. until a year or so passed and the problems showed up. Apologies were made.

This whole industry is so exploitive, misogynistic and predatory, the fact it’s even legal and normalised is incredibly disturbing. Western men don’t do this for love, they do this for power and control, and to fetishise impoverished Thai women whilst demonising western women for being independent and anything other than an obedient housewife. Thank you Louis Theroux for shining light on this horrific subject. ❤

It was the XR4x4 not the XR4x4i. James appears to have merged two different model names into one here. Also, that Sierra isn't wearing the bumper it left the factory with (or the front grille and bonnet) as they are from the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4.

Someday a companies will realize they can put a wireless camera on the hook to get a closer view of how close they are to the load. They could have cameras on the sides and bottom of the cab so they won't have to twist around to look on the sides. The U.S.A.F. is starting to use them on tanker aircraft so the operator can sit in a chair near the flight deck instead of lying on their stomach in the tail of the aircraft.

If you watch the documentary, Louis comes across really badly. He is mocking and borderline derogatory to the subjects. He didn't seem to want to accept the idea that most people involved in (low level) wrestling are normal people. He thought it was a freak show.

The absolute best part about the Thai brides episodes was where he was talking about how him and his perspective bride were both broken hearted and broken people. Then he immediately follows it up with, “is she a good cook?” You honestly couldn’t write comedy like that.

I used to work in a hotel and we had a Thai bride working there. Her husband was absolutely vile and she wanted to leave him. She started meeting friends after work which obviously she wasn't allowed to do because very soon we realised that he would come and wait for her to finish work. He'd also be furious if she was late finishing. I ended up chatting to her about it and it tuned out she was basically his maid and sex slave. It sounded absolutely awful.

In Australia as a kid this was our family car. Well the estate version was. In white. Number plate was KOX 887. Mum and dad, four kids and a dog. Many trips to the beach. The vinyl seats used to get rather hot after the car had been sat in the car park in 36 degree heat for a whole day. Prior to that we had a grey Fiat 1100, number plate JBU 277. In 1969 we all six of us drove from our home near Melbourne to Brisbane in QLD, while towing a camping trailer, to visit relatives. 1100 miles. (I suffered from car sickness so it was an interesting trip). No sooner had we got there, my mother fell out with her sister and her family and her mum and dad. We left soon after. I now live in beautiful England and drive a 2019MY Range Rover Evoque D180S. On a 69 plate!
